The Scoop: Just Announced: The IFBB Professional League (International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness) brings competitive pro bodybuilding back to the "Mecca" of physical culture -- Southern Cali. The new IFBB FLEX Pro Bodybuilding Championships is scheduled for February 26, 2011, in Los Angeles. The event press release states: "[Sponsorship of the new contest] signifies a new standard in the industry as far as supporting the competitive side of the sport...now the title sponsor [is backing] two major IFBB Professional League events -- Joe Weider's 2010 Olympia Weekend and the FLEX Pro Bodybuilding and Figure Championships in 2011."

The "So What?": According to IFBB Pro League Chairman Jim Manion, keeping bodybuilding in Southern California was a top priority after the cancellation recently reported in "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report" of the Iron Man Pro Invitational, a 20-year staple on the competition schedule. "I'd like to thank Iron Man promoter John Balik for all of the years running his show, and for all of his support during that time," says Manion. "But bodybuilding needs a show in Southern California. It has been the Mecca of bodybuilding for many years now." At one point or another, California has been a training destination for the likes of previous champions like IFBB Pro Lee Haney, IFBB Pro Dorian Yates, IFBB Pro Frank Zane, IFBB Pro Flex Wheeler and countless others.

Andrew Oye's Verdict: A collective sigh of relief was just heard from the inhabitants of Muscle Beach in Venice, CA,...as well as from IFBB Pro League athletes who now have a chance at an additional $40,000.00 payday. With Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend and the Arnold Sports Festival's IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic dominated by previous winners like IFBB Pro Jay Cutler and IFBB Pro Dexter Jackson, other contests on the pro circuit, such as this new competition, often provide top-spot opportunities for other IFBB Pro card-carrying athletes like IFBB Pro Branch Warren, IFBB Pro Phil Heath, IFBB Pro Victor Martinez, IFBB Pro Ronny Rockel, IFBB Pro Toney Freeman, IFBB Pro Hidetada Yamagishi, IFBB Pro Melvin Anthony, IFBB Pro Evan Centopani IFBB Pro Gustavo Badell, IFBB Pro Dennis Wolf, IFBB Pro Troy Alves, IFBB Pro Fouad Abiad, IFBB Pro Ben Pakulski, IFBB Pro Markus Ruhl and others.
