The Item: IFBB Pro League News, Contest Schedule, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup

The Scoop: Recently Announced: The International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness adds the IFBB Prague Pro Bodybuilding Championships to the 2012 IFBB Pro League contest schedule, slated for October 27, 2012, after Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend in September.

The "So What?": As reported in "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report," this fall's event marks the return of IFBB professional competition to the Czech Republic after 14 years -- a region that gave us athletes like Czechoslovakian IFBB Pro Pavol Jablonicky, winner of the 2003 Hungarian Grand Prix and 2004 Hungarian Pro Invitational. The Prague Pro event will feature the following divisions: IFBB Men's Bodybuilding, 212 Men's Bodybuilding and Pro Bikini, as well as the first-ever Amateur Bikini Olympia, which will award an IFBB Pro card to the overall winner.

"To bring an IFBB Pro contest back to Czech after 14 years means a lot to me and more importantly to the bodybuilding community," says promoter Eva Sukupova, a Prague native, former IFBB Pro bodybuilder, 7-time Ms. Olympia contender, and 3-time World Championships winner. "We are ready and proud to host what we know will be one of the best pro events on this planet and to hold the very first Amateur Bikini Olympia in our city."

Andrew Oye's Verdict: Athletes like MUSCLE INK Magazine cover athlete and Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Phil Heath, IFBB Pro Jay Cutler, IFBB Pro Dexter Jackson, IFBB Pro Branch Warren, IFBB Pro Dennis Wolf, IFBB Pro Toney Freeman, IFBB Pro Ronny Rockel and now IFBB Pro Shawn Rhoden, IFBB Pro Roelly Winklaar and IFBB Pro Cedric McMillan are the ones bodybuilding fans line up to see. Post-Olympia contests always raise questions about whether top-name competitors will show up; however, with the new IFBB Pro Olympia Qualification Series Point System creating space on the rankings leaderboard for lesser-known IFBB Pro League athletes, and the European market strengthening its pro bodybuilding profile (with the addition of contests like the Arnold Sports Festival's new IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships in Madrid, Spain), the "big-name draw" may not matter much soon.

As for veteran competitor Pavol Jablonicky (who earned an IFBB Pro card after winning the 1988 IFBB World Amateur Championships), his days on the competitive stage may be dwindling, but he represented Czechoslovakia with an impressive physique that he brought to Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend, a.k.a. the "Super Bowl of bodybuilding," six times (during the eras of 8-time Mr. Olympias IFBB Pro Lee Haney and IFBB Pro Ronnie Coleman); the 1994 Arnold Classic (won by IFBB Pro Kevin Levrone); and the IFBB Night of Champions ten times between 1992 and 2004, where he placed in the Top 5 five times (alongside winners IFBB Pro Porter Cottrell, IFBB Pro Flex Wheeler, IFBB Pro Chris Cormier, IFBB Pro Paul Dillet, and IFBB Pro Melvin Anthony).
