Career Updates, Special Appearances, Legends Update, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup
The Scoop:
Recently Reported: IFBB Pro League athletes had career updates or made recent guest
appearances at various sports, bodybuilding, physique and fitness
events. The latest "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report" Pro Athletes Roundup
includes "The Hulk" and "The Blade" -- veteran champion bodybuilders promoting their sport.
The "So What?":
Over the weekend, while almost every other IFBB Pro bodybuilder was at
the FIBO Power Expo in Germany (including Mr. Olympias IFBB Pro Ronnie
Coleman, IFBB Pro Phil Heath, IFBB Pro Dorian Yates, IFBB Pro Jay Cutler
and IFBB Pro Dexter Jackson and the Arnold Sports Festival's Arnold
Classic Champs IFBB Pro Branch Warren, IFBB Pro Dennis Wolf, IFBB Pro
Victor Martinez and IFBB Pro Flex Lewis), back in the USA, IFBB Pro Evan
Centopani was the featured guest-poser at the NPC Kalamazoo
Bodybuilding Championships in Michigan. Meanwhile, IFBB Pro Marco Rivera
guest-posed at the NPC Powerhouse Classic Bodybuilding Championships in
New Haven, Connecticut, a contest promoted by the owners on the "home
gym" of Centopani -- who guest-posed at their NPC East Coast Cup last
year. IFBB Pro Darron Glenn took guest-posing duties at the NPC Jax
Physique Bodybuilding Championships in Jacksonville, Florida, a contest
promoted by Masters Olympia Winner and 4-time IFBB Pro Arnold
Schwarzenegger Classic Champion Dexter Jackson -- who was busy posing in
Germany, along with IFBB Pro Ronny Rockel.
TV's "Incredible
Hulk," action-hero star of "The Liberator," 1977 WSM World's Strongest Man Contest competitor, and legendary 2-time Mr. Universe IFBB Pro Lou
Ferrigno, who has a movie-vocal role in the upcoming "Avengers 2" film,
made a special appearance at the Wizard World St. Louis Comic Con. WWE
Pro Wrestling Star Chris Jericho was also at the comic-book convention
held in the home stadium of the NFL St. Louis Rams pro football team. A
week ago, Ferrigno appeared on "Good Day LA" on FOX TV with his daughter
Shanna Ferrigno, sharing summer fitness tips and promoting his first
annual IFBB/NPC Ferrigno Legacy Pro Bodybuilding Championships.
Andrew Oye's Verdict: It's admirable that busy veterans and IFBB Hall of Famers like Lou
Ferrigno and Dexter Jackson, who I have featured in my MUSCLE INK
Magazine Champions Series for their entrepreneurial efforts, maintain
involvement in the bodybuilding industry with opportunities to either
award and help launch physique athletes into the International
Federation Bodybuilding and Fitness (IFBB) via their namesake contests. Hollywood actor and deputy sheriff Ferrigno debuts his Ferrigno Lagacy event in Santa
Barbara, CA, in November. Sports-nutrition company owner Jackson hosts
his long-running NPC Dexter Jackson Classic on August 2 (where IFBB Pro
Ed Nunn and IFBB Pro Ben Pakulski guest-posed last year). Before that,
Jackson joins an all-star lineup of guest-posers at the NPC/IFBB
Pittsburgh Championships on May 3, along Phil Heath, Jay Cutler, Branch
Warren, Dennis Wolf, IFBB Pro Shawn Rhoden, and IFBB Pro Mamdouh
Elssbiay (a.k.a. "Big Ramy").
