The Item: Career Updates, Special Appearances, Legends Update, Andrew Oye's WSM Pro Athletes Roundup, IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup
The Scoop: Recently Reported: IFBB Pro League athletes had career updates or made recent guest
appearances at various sports, bodybuilding, physique and fitness
events. The latest "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report" Pro Athletes Roundup
includes a strongman champion, some striving IFBB newcomers, Olympians
with a string of titles, and a promoter with a stronghold on his
contest.
The "So What?": Over the weekend, Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Phil Heath (who won his fourth
Sandow trophy at the 50th Anniversary Mr. Olympia Championships last
month) was the headlining guest poser at NPC Southeastern USA
Bodybuilding Championships in Orlando, Florida. In Lahti, Finland,
3-time Arnold Classic Ms. Figure International, IFBB Pro Nicole Wilkins
(who recently won her fourth Ms. Figure Olympia title at Joe Weider's
Olympia Weekend) hosted the Nicole Wilkins Fitness Championships in
conjunction with the Nordic Fitness Expo (where IFBB Pro Roelly Winklaar
won the Nordic Pro Bodybuilding Championships).
Buzzed-about
IFBB Pro Justin Compton guest-posed at the NPC Crystal Cup Championships
in Anchorage, Alaska. The adjoining Alaska Fitness Expo also included
the CrossFit Alaska State Championships, a USAPL Powerlifting contest,
as well as a "Strongest Man in Alaska" contest emceed by Icelandic Pro
Strongman Magnus Ver Magnusson, a 4-time WSM World's Strongest Man
Winner (a record matched by fellow Icelander Jon Pall Sigmarsson and
Lithuanian Zydrunas Savickas, and surpassed by Polish MMA fighter and
5-time WSM Mariusz Pudzianowski).
Congrats to IFBB Pro Tricky
Jackson who hosted the 17th edition of his NPC Tricky Jackson Classic in
Lexington, Kentucky, where IFBB Pro Jose Raymond was the guest poser.
Hall of Fame IFBB Pro Rich Gaspari (who debuted a new training series last week)
attended the (International Federation of Physique Competitors) IFPA
Cape Cod Natural Pro Bodybuilding Championships in West Barnstable,
Massachusetts. IFBB Pro Hidetada Yamagishi made an appearance at a
sports-nutrition shop in Bakersfield, California. New IFBB Pro Dusty
Hanshaw guest-posed at the NPC Natural Colorado Open Bodybuilding
Championships in Denver.
Andrew Oye's Verdict: While many established pros are busy with the international grand-prix
tour of IFBB Pro Olympia Qualification Series contests, some rookies
take the opportunity to increase their profile on the US guest-posing
circuit, such as Compton and Hanshaw. Justin Compton turned pro at the
2012 NPC Nationals, won the 2014 Orlando Pro Show of Championships, and,
because of his increasing mass with impressive shape, is intensifying
fans' expectations of him at the Arnold Sports Festival's 2015 IFBB Pro
Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships. Planning his
pro debut, 33-year-old Dusty Hanshaw is Washington-born Arizona resident
and a former hockey player who once had his sights on an NHL career and
then toiled in the amateur bodybuilding ranks for nearly eight years
before earning his IFBB Pro card by winning the Super-Heavyweight Class
at the 2014 IFBB North American Bodybuilding Championships. Rookie IFBB
Pro Ryan Pateracki (2013 NPC Nationals Super-Heavyweight Champion)
announced he will make his pro debut at IFBB Pro Lou Ferrigno's
inaugural Ferrigno Legacy Championships next month.
