The Item: Career Updates, Special Appearances, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup, WWE Pro Athletes Roundup, UFC Pro Athletes Roundup
The Scoop: Recently Reported: UFC, WWE and IFBB Pro League athletes had career updates or made recent guest appearances at various sports, bodybuilding, physique and fitness events. The latest "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report" Pro Athletes Roundup includes a mixed martial arts fighting champion, some Texan physique builders, and a calf monster.
The "So What?": Along with Texas-based IFBB Pro Dave Goodin, IFBB Pro Erik Fankhouser guest posed at
the NPC Washington Ironman Bodybuilding Championships in Snoqualmie, Washington. Big Texan IFBB Pro Branch Warren (2-time winner of the Arnold Sports Festival's IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger
Classic Bodybuilding Championships) guest-posed at the NPC Natural Northern USA
Bodybuilding Championships in Lakewood, Ohio. Fellow Texas resident, IFBB Pro Johnnie Jackson (winner of the 2009 World's Strongest Bodybuilder Powerlifting Challenge) attended the NPC Iron House Classic
Championships in McAllen, Texas, where UFC Hall of Fame MMA Fighter and former WWE Superstar Pro Wrestler Ken
Shamrock was also on the guest list.
While other pros were competing at the IFBB Asian Grand Prix
Bodybuilding Championships (won by 2-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Phil
Heath), one of Asia's most prominent bodybuilders, IFBB Pro Hidetada
Yamagishi, guest-posed at the NPC Hurricane Bay Bodybuilding
Championships in Clearwater, Florida.
Andrew Oye's Verdict: As I reported, "Quadrasaurus" Branch Warren had been
invited to compete at the Asian Grand Prix but chose to honor his
previously scheduled guest-posing commitment in Ohio. MUSCLE INK Magazine cover athlete and 4-time Mr. Olympia
IFBB Pro Jay Cutler also withdrew from the Asian Grand Prix but was
there to help present awards at the contest finals. A week ago, at the
culmination of the IFBB Pro Olympia Qualification Series, Warren took
5th at the "Super Bowl of bodybuilding" -- the Mr. Olympia contest at Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend in Las
Vegas, Nevada, where powerlifter Johnnie Jackson took 9th place, and Hide Yamagishi landed in 15th place
Fans are waiting for "Calfasaurus" Erik Fankhouser to make an impact on the International federation of Bodybuilding & Fitness competition circuit that is larger than his dominant physical feature. The West Virginia exercise physiologist didn't compete in 2011 IFBB Pro League contest season, using that time to develop his upper body to try and balance his huge legs -- including some of the biggest calves in professional bodybuilding. He last competed at the Chicago Pro Championships in July where he took 7th place.
