The Scoop: Recently Reported: IFBB Pro League athletes and pros from other sports leagues had career updates or made recent guest appearances at various sports, bodybuilding, physique and fitness events. The latest "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report" Pro Athletes Roundup includes an Olympian who was a physical-culture prototype for classic aesthetics; pros who promoting National Physique Committee contests for amateurs; a power-builder who portrayed a combat-sport television show character; and pros performing for fans as the countdown commences for the current IFBB Pro Olympia Qualification Series.

The "So What?": Over the weekend, IFBB Pro Hall of Famer, 3-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Frank Zane (1968 Mr. America, 1968 Mr. Universe, 1969 Mr. World) was a special guest at the 61st Annual Mr./Ms. Rochester Championships in New York, where the winner qualified to compete at the NMA Mr. America Competition later the same day. On a side note: the Rochester area produced International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness athletes like IFBB Pro Chris Przybyla, retired IFBB Pro Danny Padilla (who was inducted into the Muscle Beach Hall of Fame last month in California), and retired IFBB Pro Bob Cicherillo.

Cicherillo emceed the Tampa Pro Championships in Florida (won by Open-Division IFBB Pro Max Charles and 212-Division IFBB Pro Al Auguste), which was attended by 8-time Ms. Olympia IFBB Pro Lenda Murray, IFBB Pro Ben Pakulski, and IFBB Pro Vince Taylor (5-time Masters Olympia Champion and winner of the Arnold Sports Festival's 1992 IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships). Taylor was a special VIP guest presented with the Ben Weider Lifetime Achievement Award.

IFBB Pro Flex Lewis (3-time Olympia 212 Showdown Champion) was the featured guest-poser at the NPC Cajun Showdown Bodybuilding Championships in Lafayette, Louisiana. 4-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Jay Cutler hosted the NPC Jay Cutler Wyoming Classic Championships in Cheyenne (where guest-posers included chiropractor and NPC competitive bodybuilder Dorian Haywood). IFBB Pro Jason Arntz presented the NPC Muscle Beach Championships in Tinton Falls, New Jersey, where IFBB Pro Nick Trigili was the guest poser. IFBB Pro Justin Compton was a special guest at the NPC Kentucky Open/Kentucky State Championships. Powerlifter/bodybuilder Mike O'Hearn ("Titan" from TV's "American Gladiators") was the guest-poser at the NPC Tennessee State Championships in Cookeville.

Andrew Oye's Verdict: In Rochester, 73-year-old Frank Zane participated in a meet-and-greet with fans and hosted a seminar. Also in attendance at the Mr./Ms. Rochester and Mr. America contest: 73-year-old retired IFBB Pro Ken Waller (1971 Mr. America, 1972 Mr. International, 1973 Mr. World, 1975 Mr. Universe), who appeared in the renowned bodybuilding documentary "Pumping Iron." To this day, Zane is considered a legendary physique icon for his storied career that includes collecting about 16 1st place wins between 1964 and 1983; earning three Sandow trophies at Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend (a.k.a. the "Super Bowl of bodybuilding"); and epitomizing "Golden Era," classic physique aesthetics (also embodied by bodybuilders of various generations like IFBB Pro Serge Nubret, IFBB Pro Francis Benfatto, IFBB Pro Lee Labrada, and IFBB Pro Flex Wheeler).
