The Scoop: Just Announced: The International Sports Hall of Fame (ISHOF) honored its newest class of inductees during the world's largest multi-sport festival, the Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus, Ohio, (March 5-8), host of the IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships (an International Federation of Bodybuilding & Fitness IFBB Pro Olympia Qualification Series contest, which was won by 2008 Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Dexter Jackson for a record-breaking fifth time).

The "So What?": The 2015 Hall of Fame inductees and recipients of ISHOF gold medallions at the International Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremony: "The Real Deal" Evander Holyfield (only 5-time World Heavyweight Boxing Champion with WBA, WBC, and IBF titles); IFBB Pro Lenda Murray (8-time Ms. Olympia champion); Michael Jai White (Hollywood TV/movie actor and 7-discipline Black Belt Martial Artist); "Triple H" Paul Levesque (13-time World WWE Pro Wrestling Champion and World Wrestling Entertainment Executive Vice-President); "The Dragon" Don Wilson (action-movie star and Guinness Book of World Records 11-time World Kickboxing Champion); Ed Coan (holder of over 70 World Powerlifting Records).

Formed by Dr. Robert Goldman, former world champion athlete with over 20 world records and Chairman of Sports Medicine committees in over 180 nations, the ISHOF launched in 2012. "It was time we had a comprehensive Hall of Fame, that recognized athletes of all sports worldwide," says Bob Goldman. "For not only their remarkable contributions as an athlete during their competitive years, but also recognizing their human capacity for giving back to society through charitable works." The ISHOF is headquartered at the Stark Center -- the world's largest physical culture and sports museum located at the University of Texas at Austin.

Andrew Oye's Verdict: The ISHOF ceremony has become a marquee event for the Arnold Sports Festival, beginning with the dedication of an 800-pound bronze statue of Arnold Schwarzenegger to the city of Columbus in 2012, and continuing with its honoring of achievement in the diverse world of sports. (As reported in MUSCLE INK Magazine, Schwarzenegger was recently inducted into the celebrity wing of the WWE Hall of Fame). The industry anticipates the next class of inductees and from they will be culled – team sports that compete at major events like the World Series and Super Bowl, strength sports, Olympic sports, sports-entertainment, combat sports, or physique sports and the champions who dominate Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend.

The 2014 ISHOF class: IFBB Pro Lee Haney (joint-record-holding 8-time Mr. Olympia [with IFBB Pro Ronnie Coleman] and former chairman of the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports); Jason Statham (Hollywood action-movie star, British national diving team); Cynthia Rothrock (action film and TV star, 5-time World Karate Champion); Dan Gable (16 NCAA title-winning wrestling head coach, 1972 Olympic Gold Medal winner); and the Weider family -- Joe Weider, Betty Weider and Ben Weider (founder of the IFBB International Federation of Bodybuilding + Fitness, Mr. Olympia contest, Olympia Weekend, and publishing and nutrition empires).

The 2013 ISHOF class: IFBB Pro Franco Columbu (WSM World's Strongest Man competitor, Olympic weightlifter and 2-time Mr. Olympia); Archie Griffin (only 2-time winner of college football's prestigious Heisman Trophy, 3-time collegiate football All American, NFL National Football League player, member of National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame Board of Directors); Earl "The Pearl" Monroe (National Basketball Association NBA Hall of Fame basketball player, named among "50 Greatest Players," served on President's Council on Physical Fitness and Health); Bruno Sammartino (longest-running World Wide Wrestling Federation WWWF champion); and Blaine Carew Wilson (first 5-time consecutive USA Gymnastics national champion).

The 2012 ISHOF class: "Governator" IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger (7-time Mr. Olympia, former California Governor, and Hollywood movie actor starring in projects like "Terminator," "Conan the Barbarian," and "Pumping Iron"); Mark Henry (World's Strongest Man competitor, WWE World Wrestling Entertainment and weightlifting champion); Randy Couture (MMA mixed martial artist, Ultimate Fighting Championships UFC Hall of Fame world champion); Jack LaLanne (fitness icon and legend); IFBB Pro Cory Everson (6-time Ms. Olympia); and James Lorimer (Arnold Classic and Arnold Sports Festival promoter).
