The Item: Legends Update, Career Updates, Special Appearances, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup, Contest Preparation

The Scoop: Recently Reported: IFBB Pro League athletes had career updates or made recent guest appearances at various sports, bodybuilding, physique and fitness events. The latest "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report" Pro Athletes Roundup includes competitors in the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness who have never qualified for the Olympia Championships, others who have qualified and are prepping for next week's Olympia, and one choosing not to challenge reigning 4-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Phil Heath this year.

The "So What?": Over the weekend, IFBB Pro Fouad Abiad hosted the Ontario Physique Association OPA Fouad Abiad Natural Championships in Windsor, Ontario in Canada, where he guest-posed at his own event and where his nephew made his competitive debut in the Physique Division. IFBB Pro Chris Tuttle, who is a registered dietician, hosted an educational seminar on training and nutrition at a gym in Waterbury, Connecticut. Two weeks ago, Tuttle appeared in a video clip of an arm-training session in Massachusetts with IFBB Pro Jose Raymond as "The Boston Mass" prepares to take on 3-time champion IFBB Pro Flex Lewis at next week's Olympia 212 Showdown in Las Vegas, Nevada. Recent winner of the Texas Pro Bodybuilding Championships 212-Division, Costa Rican IFBB Pro Alejandro Cambronero guest-posed at the inaugural NPC Precision Fit Body Championships in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

The weekend before the last, IFBB Pro William Bonac was the featured guest-poser at the UKBFF Welsh Bodybuilding Championships in Cardiff, Wales. (Wales is the home country of Flex Lewis, winner of the Arnold Sports Festival's first 212-Division contest at the 2014 IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships). IFBB Pro Shaun Clarida and IFBB Pro Derek Leverant were guest-posers at the 8th Annual NPC Royal Palm Classic Championships in Estero, Florida. In Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, new IFBB Pro Mitch Staats earned his IFBB Pro card at the IFBB North American Championships, where IFBB Pro Brian Yersky and Chris Tuttle were spotted. On Labor Day, Mr. Universe and retired IFBB Pro Ed Corney was inducted into the Muscle Beach Hall of Fame in California.

Andrew Oye's Verdict: Fouad Abiad has been on a roller coaster lately. He enjoyed the high of promoting and posing at his own event, saying, "One of my favorite things to do when I'm guest-posing is bring out some of the winners to pose with me. It's just fun for the crowd to see where we once were as pros and where these amateurs are headed. Not to mention, I remember what it was like when I was an amateur and I got to pose with a pro. It was really special to me, so I hope these up-and-comers feel the same."

This came two weeks after of the low of announcing he would skip the industry's biggest event, saying, "It's been one of the most amazing competitive years of my life…so many ups and downs…I've never received this level of support ever in my career…That's why it's hard for me to say this. With a heavy heart and confused mind, I have decided to sit out the 2015 Olympia…Things come up and life sometimes takes precedence."

It's surprising for a still-climbing athlete to qualify (twice in one season!) by winning two IFBB Pro Olympia Qualification Series contests (Orlando Pro and Vancouver Pro) -- a feat he had never accomplished before – then opt to not compete at Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend (a.k.a. the "Super Bowl of bodybuilding"). Abiad has only competed at the prestigious event once (in 2008, and he didn't place) since earning his IFBB Pro card at the 2006 CBBF Canadian National Championships. Passing on a rare opportunity, Abiad apologized to fans he felt he my have let down and vowed that next year "will be bigger and even better!"
