Career Updates, Special Appearances, Pro Seminar, Legends Update, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup

The Scoop: Recently Reported: IFBB Pro League athletes had career updates or made recent guest appearances at various sports, bodybuilding, physique and fitness events. The "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report" Pro Athletes Roundup includes IFBB Hall of Fame pros contributing perspectives on the southeast coast and contemporary pro bodybuilders contributing to a good cause on the west coast.

The "So What?": Over the weekend, the 2012 Masters Olympia "Return of the Legends" Weekend in Miami Beach, Florida (won by 3-time Arnold Classic Champion and 2008 Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Dexter Jackson), hosted a Hall of Fame Seminar that featured a boatload of big names: legendary 8-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Lee Haney, 8-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Ronnie Coleman, 8-time Ms. Olympia IFBB Pro Lenda Murray, 6-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Dorian Yates, 5-time Masters Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Vince Taylor, 1983 Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Samir Bannout, 2-time Mr. Universe IFBB Pro Lou Ferrigno (TV's "Incredible Hulk"), 4-time winner of the Arnold Sports Festival's IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships IFBB Pro Flex Wheeler, and former Olympia contenders IFBB Pro Lee Labrada, IFBB Pro Rich Gaspari, and IFBB Pro Shawn Ray.

These legends reminisced about yesteryear and shared pertinent information for athletes of today who are getting acclimated to changes in the sport, like the new IFBB Pro Olympia Qualification Series Point System that steers Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend. Guest posers at the Masters Mr. Olympia included reigning 2-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Phil Heath and former Olympia contender IFBB Pro Francis Benfatto. Meanwhile, on the west coast, 2012 Olympia 212 Showdown Champ IFBB Pro Flex Lewis made an appearance at a fitness bash in Long Beach, California, where IFBB Pro Steve Kuclo (a Texas firefighter and the 2011 NPC Mr. USA) was a guest-poser and IFBB Pro Derik Farnsworth monitored a powerlifting competition.

Andrew Oye's Verdict: The cool part of the southeast event is that it reunited many icons of the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness who had gathered for the first Masters Olympia in nearly a decade (the previous edition had been staged in 2003 and won by IFBB Pro Claude Groulx). The nice part of the west coast event is that it was part of a holiday charity benefiting a family center and the "Toys For Tots" initiative.
