The Item: Career Updates, Legends Update, Special Appearances, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup

The Scoop: Recently Reported: IFBB Pro League athletes had career updates or made recent guest appearances at various sports, bodybuilding, physique and fitness events. Continuing my news about vets via video, the latest "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report" Pro Athletes Roundup includes some retired greats from yesteryear.

The "So What?": IFBB Pro Rich Gaspari just released the first clip of a physique-training video mini-series. Fresh off the release of his new book "51 Days No Excuses," Gaspari -- the first-ever 1989 IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Champion -- highlights gym techniques in his series. Speaking of gym techniques, another bodybuilding legend who knows his way around a squat rack, IFBB Pro Tom Platz recently posted a high-energy video of his tour of the 2013 Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend Expo. In the clip, he stops to chat with legendary IFBB Pro Lee Labrada for a reminiscing session, and it shows how much enthusiasm "The Golden Eagle" (a.k.a., the "Quadfather" and the original "Quadzilla" or "Quadrasaurus" before IFBB Pro Paul Demayo and IFBB Pro Branch Warren) still has for the sport and culture of bodybuilding. (Platz served a stint as Director of Talent Development for WWE's Vince McMahon's defunct WBF World Bodybuilding Federation). Perennially fit, 53-year-old Labrada, who is featured in my "Art of War" stage-presentation series and offers tips via his ongoing "Ask Lee" video series, posted a recent photo training arms at the "Bodybuilding Mecca" Gold's Gym in Venice Beach, California, at the request of his fans.

Andrew Oye's Verdict: All of the aforementioned IFBB Hall of Fame athletes, Gaspari (2004), Platz (2003) and Labrada (2004) know what it's like to be close to pro bodybuilding's crown (before the IFBB Pro Olympia Qualification Series that currently steers the league) -- as a 3-time Mr. Olympia runner-up to 8-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Lee Haney; a 3rd place runner-up to 1981 Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Franco Columbu; and a 2-time Olympia runner-up to Haney, respectively. These media updates follow my recent write-ups about interesting video postings from 8-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Ronnie Coleman at his headquarters; 6-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Dorian Yates in his gym; and 4-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Jay Cutler in his warehouse. These IFBB Pros are on their way to appearances at the Arnold Sports Festival's Arnold Classic.
