Legends Update, Entertainment Industry News, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup
Just Reported: Hollywood action-movie star, 7-time Mr. Olympia and IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger is hungry for the shine of the silver screen after a long break from leading roles. Yesterday (February 10), Schwarzenegger posted online that he is ready for the big acting roles to roll in again.
According to The Hollywood Reporter: "Exciting news," [Schwarzenegger] wrote. "My friends at CAA have been asking me for 7 years when they can take offers seriously. Gave them the green light today."
The "So What?"
: By giving his agents the go-ahead to consider new movie jobs, Arnold Schwarzenegger returns to the second career that brought him worldwide fame, after his success as a champion in the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness. As reported in "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report," after 7 years of service, the former California governor completed his back-to-back terms this year. With his political duties ending last month, Schwarzenegger likely has more time on his hands to explore acting options -- that is, aside from planning his major fitness expo, the Arnold Sports Festival, in Columbus, Ohio (March 5).
Schwarzenegger had brief cameos or minor roles in "The Rundown" with pro wrestling WWE star "The Rock" Dwayne Johnson (2003); a remake of "Around The World in 80 Days" with martial artists Jackie Chan (2004); "The Kid & I" (2005); and "The Expendables" with Sylvester Stallone and Bruce Willis (2010). THR reports, "He had been rumored to be appearing in Terminator Salvation as the original T-800 model, but those reports were untrue."
Andrew Oye's Verdict:
I featured Arnold Schwarzenegger on this month's cover of MUSCLE INK Magazine to salute his fitness and sports industry efforts like the IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships for
IFBB Pro League athletes and the Arnold Classic Expo -- a prestigious event in the vein of his mentor Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend -- that features competitions for athletes who participate in strongman, armwrestling, CrossFit, weightlifting, powerlifting, boxing, archery, fencing, gymnastics, swimming, MMA, track & field, and other Olympic sports and strength sports.
The star of the acclaimed documentary "Pumping Iron" (with "Incredible Hulk," IFBB Pro Lou Ferrigno) and, of course, the "Terminator" and "Conan the Barbarian" franchises, Schwarzenegger has long walked the line between the film world and a physical/athletic persona, so he undoubtedly has fans waiting for his return to action.
