The Item: IFBB Pro League Olympia Preview, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup
The Scoop: Just Announced: Promoters of Joe Weider's Olympia Fitness &
Performance Weekend just announced the IFBB Pro Olympia Qualification
Series Standings for the Open Division competitors in contention for the
50th Anniversary IFBB Mr. Olympia Bodybuilding Championships in Las
Vegas, NV (September 18-21).
The "So What?": As reported in "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report," the IFBB Pro Olympia
Qualification Series Point System applies to IFBB Pro League athletes'
eligibility to compete at the 2014 Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend and
challenge reigning 3-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Phil Heath (current
MUSCLE INK Magazine cover athlete). 2014 IFBB contest-circuit
competition winners who qualified include: IFBB Pro Dennis Wolf
(Germany; winner of the Arnold Sports Festival's 2014 Arnold Classic Bodybuilding Championships), IFBB Pro Shawn Rhoden (USA), IFBB Pro Justin Compton (USA),
IFBB Pro Steve Kuclo (USA), IFBB Pro Branch Warren (USA), IFBB Pro
Mamdouh Elssbiay (a.k.a. "Big Ramy" from Egypt), IFBB Pro Juan Morel
(USA), IFBB Pro Roelly Winklaar (Curacao), IFBB Pro Victor Martinez
(Dominican Republic), and IFBB Pro Dexter Jackson (USA).
The Series' Top 5
point-scorers qualify for the 2014 Mr. Olympia contest. In the event of a
tie, the competitor with the best top five contest placings will be
awarded the qualification. The 2013 Olympia's Top 5 finishers
automatically qualified (IFBB Pro K. Greene, IFBB Pro Dennis Wolf, IFBB
Pro Shawn Rhoden, IFBB Pro Dexter Jackson). The 2013 Amateur Olympia
winner, IFBB Pro Ibrahim Fahim (Egypt), also makes the list.

Andrew Oye's Verdict: Launched during the 2012 IFBB Pro League contest season, the Olympia
Qualification Series resulted in some sizeable shifts in its 2014
edition. Last year's top point-scorers like Toney Freeman, Ed Nunn, and
IFBB Pro Ben Pakulski, as well as 2013 circuit-contest winners like IFBB
Pro Brandon Curry and IFBB Pro Robert Piotrkowicz, either slid down the
leaderboard or completely dropped out of contention this year due to
ladder climbers like Jonathon Delarosa and champion newcomers like
Justin Compton. Following his 6th place finish last year, 4-time Mr.
Olympia IFBB Pro Jay Cutler has (wisely) decided to attend "the Super
Bowl of bodybuilding" as a spectator. Cutler already has a gilded seat
among past Mr. Olympia champions and Sandow-trophy winners like IFBB Pro
Larry Scott, IFBB Pro Sergio Oliva, IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger,
IFBB Pro Franco Columbu, IFBB Pro Frank Zane, IFBB Pro Chris Dickerson,
IFBB Pro Samir Bannout, IFBB Pro Lee Haney, IFBB Pro Dorian Yates, IFBB
Pro Ronnie Coleman, Dexter Jackson and Phil Heath.
