IFBB Pro League Contest Results, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes RoundupThe Scoop:
Just Announced: Over the weekend, similar to last year, several competitors at the previous weekend's IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships trekked straight from the Arnold Sports Festival in Madrid, Spain, to the Czech Republic for the IFBB Prague Pro Bodybuilding Championships. Like last year, the Arnold Classic Europe Champion also won 1st place in the Open-Division in Prague. In 2015, that sweep went to dominating IFBB Pro Dexter Jackson, up a spot from 2014. IFBB Pro Mamdouh Elssbiay (a.k.a. "Big Ramy") took 2nd place. Remaining in the same spot he filled last year, IFBB Pro Shawn Rhoden took 3rd place. Last year's Prague Pro champion, IFBB Dennis Wolf, fell to 4th place. IFBB Pro William Bonac jumped three spots to land in 5th in place.
Some of the remaining field of physiques: falling two spots from last year -- IFBB Pro Roelly Winklaar (6th), IFBB Pro Ronny Rockel (7th), IFBB Pro Juan Morel (9th), dropping steeply from 5th place last year -- IFBB Pro Steve Kuclo (10th), IFBB Pro Brandon Curry (11th), the 2014 Amateur Olympia Europe winner making his pro debut -- IFBB Pro Roman Fritz (12th), IFBB Pro Michael Kefalianos (13th), IFBB Pro Alex Fedorov (14th), IFBB Pro Tomas Kaspar (15th), IFBB Pro Dalibor Hajek (16th), IFBB Pro Jeno Kiss (16th), in his pro debut -- IFBB Pro Marek Olejniczak (16th), and in his pro debut -- IFBB Pro Rastislav Solar (16th).The "So What?":
As reported in "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report," the IFBB Pro Olympia Qualification Series Point System: (1st automatic qualification, 2nd - 6 Points, 3rd - 5 Points, 4th - 4 Points, 5th - 3 Points) applies to IFBB Pro League athletes' eligibility to compete at Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend (a.k.a. the "Super Bowl of bodybuilding") to challenge reigning Mr. Olympia Phil Heath. The Prague Pro Championships is a Tier 2 contest, i.e., one of few to award more points per placing than Tier 3 and Tier 4 contests. Dexter Jackson's win in Prague marks his fourth win at an IFBB professional bodybuilding contest in 2015. New IFBB Pro Petar Klancir earned his IFBB Pro card by winning the Super-Heavyweight (over 100kg) Class and Overall title at the 2015 Amateur Olympia Europe, which was held in conjunction with the Prague Pro event.Andrew Oye's Verdict:
To elaborate about the current dominance of Dexter "The Blade" Jackson seems redundant at this point; however, the facts speak for themselves. The veteran competitor, who earned his IFBB Pro card in 1998 and turns 46 year old next month, won every contest he entered this year, with the exception of the Mr. Olympia -- where took a respectable 2nd place. Besides, he won an Olympia Sandow trophy in 2008. In this year alone, his record-breaking victory at the Arnold Classic USA in Columbus, Ohio, surpassed the four-win tie he had shared with retired IFBB Pro Flex Wheeler. Because he had also won the inaugural Arnold Classic Australia, Jackson's win at the Arnold Classic Europe broke Dennis Wolf's record of two consecutive Arnold Sports Festival wins in a calendar year, and also made Jackson the first to win three different Arnold Classic titles from the various franchises (which now include Brasil and South Africa). His resume contains 24 pro victories, including winning the 2012 Masters Olympia (all of which factors into 67 Top 5 placings in 84 contests in the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness Professional League). Is the man who has earned the (unofficial) title of "Most Dominant Bodybuilder of 2015" a legit legend? You do the math.
