IFBB Pro League Contest Results, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup
Just Announced: Over the weekend, IFBB Pro Toney Freeman fetched a 1st place victory in the Open Division at the 2011 Europa SuperShow Dallas Pro Bodybuilding Championships in Texas. IFBB Pro Ed Nunn was awarded with 2nd place. IFBB Pro Shawn Rhoden walked away with 3rd place. IFBB Pro Mark Alvisi, who placed 2nd at this contest last year, took 4th place this year. The 5th place was given to IFBB Pro Michael Liberatore. The Top 3 finishers earned qualifications to compete at the Olympia next month (September 16).
Some of the remaining field: IFBB Pro Moe Bannout (6th), IFBB Pro Martin Kjellstrom (8th), IFBB Pro Zaher Moukahal

(11th), IFBB Pro Clarence DeVis (12th), IFBB Pro Oscar Tua Dexter

The "So What?":
As reported in "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report," the Top 3 IFBB Pro
athletes at the Dallas Pro Europa Show of Champions
earn Olympia qualifications to face MUSCLE INK Magazine cover athlete and 4-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Jay
Cutler at Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend in Las Vegas (September 16). As I previously mentioned, this victory was necessary for Toney Freeman, who prior to Dallas, had competed four times in 2011 only placing as high as 5th at the Mr. Europe Championships, won by IFBB Pro Ronny Rockel -- who had also finished three spots ahead of Freeman at the Arnold Sports Festival's 2011 IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships (won by "Quadrasaurus" IFBB Pro Branch Warren). Heading into the weekend, Freeman's 2011 record: 9th Arnold Classic, 6th British Grand Prix, 5th Mr. Europe Grand Prix, 6th
Andrew Oye's Verdict:
The Dallas SuperShow is what I dubbed "Battle of the X-Frames." Toney
"X-Man" Freeman, Edward Nunn and Shawn Rhoden come to the stage with
similar builds -- classic structures, highlighted by broad shoulders, small
waists and flared quads. Freeman, the vet who led the way in marketing
this physique type, was given the nod and urgently needed it for his
qualification to battle IFBB Pro Dexter Jackson, IFBB Pro Phil Heath, IFBB Pro Dennis Wolf and the rest of this year's Olympia contenders. Yet, some feel the slightly more sharply
conditioned Nunn could have taken the crown, with the Top 2 being
closely chased by Rhoden.
Another athlete who fits in with the aforementioned trio, IFBB Pro Cedric McMillan, placed 4th at the 2010 SuperShow in Dallas, when some felt he should have placed a spot or two higher. Throwing McMillan into the 2011 Dallas showdown of Freeman versus Nunn versus Rhoden would have made for an even more exciting battle of the X's. An epic Olympia Sandow trophy fight would include these athletes, plus IFBB Pro Flex Wheeler in his prime and, for fun, bring IFBB Pro Serge Nubret back from the past. Whoa!
