The Item: IFBB Pro League Contest Results, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup
The Scoop: Just Announced: Over the weekend, as IFBB Pro bodybuilders race across Europe to
multiple contests, IFBB Pro Shawn Rhoden rose to the occasion, winning
1st place in the Open Division at the 2014 IFBB San Marino Grand Prix
Pro Bodybuilding Championships in Italy. IFBB Pro Dennis Wolf (2014
Arnold Classic winner) placed 2nd in the show. IFBB Pro Dexter Jackson
(2008 Mr. Olympia) took the 3rd position. IFBB Pro Roelly Winklaar
placed 4th in the contest lineup. IFBB Pro Victor Martinez was awarded
5th place.
The remaining field: IFBB Pro Juan Morel (6th), IFBB
Pro Steve Kuclo (7th), IFBB Pro Robert Piotrkowicz (8th), IFBB Pro Ronny
Rockel (9th), IFBB Pro Jon Delarosa (10th), IFBB Pro William Bonac
(11th), IFBB Pro Arnaud Plaisant (12th), IFBB Pro Vladimir Agrinskiy
(13th), IFBB Pro Dainius Barzinskas (14th).
The "So What?": As reported in "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report," the IFBB Pro Olympia
Qualification Series Point System: (1st automatic qualification, 2nd - 4
Points, 3rd - 3 Points, 4th - 2 Points, 5th - 1 Point) applies to IFBB
Pro League athletes' eligibility to compete at Joe Weider's Olympia
Weekend to face reigning Mr. Olympia Phil Heath. This was the first San
Marino Pro Championships but the fourth post-Olympia contest on the IFBB
international grand prix tour in just two weeks!
Competitions
stacked back-to-back after the Olympia (September 20; Rhoden 3rd, Wolf
4th, Jackson 5th) have included: the Arnold Sports Festival's IFBB Pro
Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Europe in Madrid on Saturday (September
27; won by Wolf, Rhoden 2nd, Jackson 3rd); followed by a rare mid-week
contest -- the Dubai Pro on Wednesday (October 1; won by Jackson, Rhoden
2nd) followed by another rare occurrence -- two major pro contests on
the same weekend, the Prague Pro on Saturday (October 4; won by Wolf,
Jackson 2nd, Rhoden 3rd) and the San Marino Pro on Sunday (October 5).
Andrew Oye's Verdict: The grueling schedule that the athletes maintain while in contest-prep
depletion mode is impressive. Content winning his fourth Sandow at the
50th Anniversary Olympia, Phil Heath is busy with business and
promotional duties. Thus far, this has left the stages of the
international grand-prix circuit as a three-way battle between Shawn
Rhoden, Dennis Wolf and Dexter "The Blade" Jackson, who have been
swapping placings and victories from contest to contest. As I've stated
before, Rhoden brings an incredibly complete physique that would
seemingly result in even more 1st place wins than it has already. Wolf
brings stature. Jackson brings credentials. Unless someone else steps
up, between Shawn's shape, Wolf's width and The Blade's bio, this trio
will continue taking turns on the winner's seat then handing it off to
the next guy in the rotation the following weekend...like a reserved
company parking spot.
