The Item: IFBB Pro League Contest Results, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup

The Scoop: Just Announced: Over the weekend, IFBB Pro Roelly Winklaar whipped up a 1st place win at the inaugural 2012 Nordic Pro Bodybuilding Championships in Lahti, Finland. Polish powerlifter and IFBB Pro Robert Piotrkowicz pushed his way into 2nd place. Germany's IFBB Pro Ronny Rockel was positioned in 3rd place. IFBB Pro Baitollah Abbaspour took 4th place and IFBB Pro Todd Jewell occupied the 5th place slot, his highest professional bodybuilding contest placement to date.

The remaining field of physiques: making pro his pro debut IFBB Pro Yuri (Juri) Leonov (6th), IFBB Pro Khalid Almohsinawi (7th), IFBB Pro Fred Smalls (8th), IFBB Pro K. Williams (9th), IFBB Pro Daniel Hill (10th), IFBB Pro Thomas Benagli (11th), in his pro debut IFBB Pro Timo Honkala (12th), IFBB Pro Valentin Jabes (13th), IFBB Pro Clarence DeVis (14th), at his pro debut IFBB Pro Ari Kokkonen (15th), also making his pro debut Bosnian IFBB Pro Mirsad Terzo, (16th), and IFBB Pro Fauzi Hanst (16th).

The "So What?": As reported in "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report," the IFBB Pro Olympia Qualification Series Point System (1st automatic qualification, 2nd - 4 Points, 3rd - 3 Points, 4th - 2 Points, 5th - 1 Point) applies to IFBB Pro League athletes' eligibility to compete at Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend (September 29) in Las Vegas, Nevada, and face reigning Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Phil Heath. As previously noted, the Nordic Pro Championships -- Scandinavia's inaugural professional bodybuilding contest at the Fitness Expo -- marked the last Open-Class contest before the "Super Bowl of Bodybuilding" and the final opportunity to gain Olympia qualification points for Open-Division competitors in preparation for the 2012 Mr. Olympia contest. With no 212 Division contest at the event in Finland, over the weekend, the lightweight athletes competed in their final Olympia qualifier in Florida -- the Valenti Gold Cup Sarasota Pro Championships (won by IFBB Pro Eduardo Correa).

Andrew Oye's Verdict: Expectations for a victory were high for Ronny "The Rock" Rockel, because many fans were waiting to see what he would bring in his first contest of the 2012 IFBB Pro League competition season. Rockel had previously placed 3rd at the inaugural European IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships at the Arnold Sports Festival in October 2011 in Madrid, Spain. (IFBB Pro Victor Martinez won the 2011 Arnold Classic Europe. IFBB Pro Branch Warren won the 2011 and 2012 Arnold Classic USA.) Roelly Winklaar appeared to have improved a bit from earlier contest showings this year in Dallas and Tampa, closing his 2012 season in the International Federation of Bodybuilding & Fitness in a strong way and after ushering his younger brother -- rookie IFBB Pro Quincy Winklaar -- into his pro debut last month.
