IFBB Pro League Contest Results, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup
Just Announced: Over the weekend, IFBB Pro Roc Shabazz rocked his way to a victory in the 202 Division at the 2010 IFBB Phoenix Pro Bodybuilding Championships in Mesa, Arizona. IFBB Pro Roc Shabazz used a winning blend of
grainy, veiny musculature and cuts to take the 1st place spot in a small
class (literally, with only 7 competitors). A relatively new face with a
good structure and nice lines, 5'7", 195-pound Iraqi-Swedish IFBB Pro Ahmad
Ahmad took 2nd place. X-framed IFBB Pro Bola Ojex finished in 3rd place at 5'7"
and 200 lbs. of solid muscle. IFBB Pro Rod Ketchens landed in 4th place, followed by French IFBB Pro Eric Castagnet in 5th place.
The "So What?":
As reported in "Andrew Oye's
Pro-Muscle Report," the Top 3
finishers in the 202 Division qualify to
compete at Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend in Las Vegas and challenge reigning Olympia 202 Showdown Champion IFBB Pro Kevin English for the
title. The inaugural Phoenix Pro Championships kicked-off the 2010 IFBB
Pro League contest season. The 202 Division does not yet have a contest at the Arnold Sports Festival, where Open Division IFBB Pro League athletes like IFBB Pro Dexter Jackson, IFBB Pro Phil Heath, IFBB Pro Branch Warren, IFBB Pro Ronny Rockel and IFBB Pro Roelly Winklaar will compete in the IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships next month.
Andrew Oye's Verdict:
Rashid "Roc" Shabazz took the 2009 IFBB Pro contest season off, after a 2008 season that included a 2nd place finish at the Europa Super Show, crossover results of 5th in the 202 Class and 11th in the Open Class at the New York Pro Championships and then 5th in the 202 Class and 14th in the Open Class at the Tampa Pro Championships. He ended that year by not making the Top 3 at the debut Olympia 202 Showdown (won by IFBB Pro David Henry). Shabazz returned to a win in Arizona, so surely he is glad that he came back when he did.
