The Item: IFBB Pro League Contest Results, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup

The Scoop: Just Announced: Over the weekend, 2-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Phil Heath earned his second consecutive 1st place win at the 2012 Asian Grand Prix Pro Bodybuilding Championships (a.k.a. Sheru Classic) in New Delhi, India. Last year's runner-up 4-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Jay Cutler, who opted not to compete this year, attended to help present awards to competitors: 2nd place IFBB Pro K. Greene; 3rd place IFBB Pro Toney Freeman; 4th place IFBB Pro Roelly Winklaar; and 5th place IFBB Pro Michael Kefalianos. The remaining field of physiques: IFBB Pro Ed Nunn (6th), IFBB Pro Sergey Shelestov (7th), powerlifter and IFBB Pro Ben White (8th), and IFBB Pro Todd Jewell (withdrew).

The "So What?":
As reported in "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report," the IFBB Pro Olympia Qualification Series Point System (1st automatic qualification, 2nd - 6 Points, 3rd - 5 Points, 4th - 4 Points, 5th - 3 Points) applies to IFBB Pro League athletes' eligibility to compete at Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend to face reigning Mr. Olympia Phil Heath next year. The Sheru Classic Asian Grand Prix Pro Championships is a Tier 2 contest, i.e., one of few to award more points per placing than Tier 3 and Tier 4 contests.

Andrew Oye's Verdict:
Fresh off his second consecutive victory at Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend just one week ago, Phil Heath's success at defending his Asian Grand Prix Pro Championships title was expected. Two Olympia Sandow trophies (and, yes, an impressive physique) have a way of clearing a path to the top spot on the podium of all other competitions on the International Federation of Bodybuilding & Fitness contest circuit. Congrats to Toney Freeman for jumping three places from his 6th place finish at this event last year. Since both of these high-level IFBB Pro athletes had skipped the Arnold Sports Festival's 2012 IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships (won by IFBB Pro Branch Warren), this was the highest OQS-tier contest they have entered so far this year.
