The Item: IFBB Pro League Contest Results, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup

The Scoop: Just Announced: Over the weekend, IFBB Pro Michael Kefalianos kicked the competition to take 1st place and win the 2012 IFBB Mr. Europe Pro Bodybuilding Championships in Madrid, Spain. Powerlifter and IFBB Pro Johnnie Jackson was awarded 2nd place. The 3rd place slot was given to IFBB Pro Baitollah Abbaspour. IFBB Pro Feras Saied took 4th place, followed by IFBB Pro Sergey Shelestov in 5th place.

Some of the remaining field: IFBB Pro Daniel Toth (6th), IFBB Pro Gustavo Badell (7th), IFBB Pro Brandon Curry (8th), IFBB Pro Tomas Bures (9th), IFBB Pro Lee Powell (11th), IFBB Pro Leonid Istomin (12th), IFBB Pro Luke Timms (13th), IFBB Pro Jari Mentula (14th), IFBB Pro Varinder Singh Ghuman (15th), followed by IFBB Pro Carlos Asensio and IFBB Pro Ben White.

The "So What?": This marks Mike Kefalianos' first victory in a professional bodybuilding contest since earning his IFBB Pro card after a 3rd place finish in the Heavyweight Class at the Arnold Classic's 2009 Arnold Amateur Bodybuilding Championships (won by Super-Heavyweight Class winner IFBB Pro Roelly Winklaar). As reported in "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report," the IFBB Pro Olympia Qualification Series Point System: (1st automatic qualification, 2nd - 4 Points, 3rd - 3 Points, 4th - 2 Points, 5th - 1 Point) applies to IFBB Pro League athletes' eligibility to compete at Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend (September 29) in Las Vegas and contend with reigning Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Phil Heath.

Andrew Oye's Verdict: The absence of 2-time, consecutive Mr. Europe Pro Champion IFBB Pro Ronny Rockel from the contest may have cleared the path for Michael Kefalianos, who also managed to leap-frog over Johnnie Jackson (who had defeated Kefalianos at the FIBO Power Pro Bodybuilding Championships in Germany a week prior). Again, Kefaliano placed higher than veteran-on-a-comeback IFBB Pro Gustavo Badell as he did in Columbus, Ohio, where the Greek-born Australia resident placed 9th and the Venezuelan-born Puerto Rico resident placed 13th at the Arnold Sports Festival's 2012 IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships (won by IFBB Pro Branch Warren). Unfortunately, Johnnie Jackson's fellow "World's Strongest Bodybuilder" Powerlifting Challenge contender IFBB Pro Ben White, who had placed 12th at the Arnold Classic, was not strong enough to lift himself to a higher placing in Spain.
