The Item: IFBB Pro League Contest Results, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup

The Scoop: Just Announced: Over the weekend, IFBB Pro Jose Raymond won 1st place at the 2012 IFBB/NPC Pro/Am Classic Championships in Shreveport, Louisiana. IFBB Pro Marco Rivera finished in 2nd place. IFBB Pro Lyndon Belgrave landed in 3rd place. IFBB Pro Daron Lytle took 4th place, followed by IFBB Pro Vinny Galanti in 5th place. Former NFL Pro Football player (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) IFBB Pro Nathan Wonsley landed in 6th place.

The "So What?": As reported in "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report," the IFBB Pro Olympia Qualification Series Point System: (1st automatic qualification, 2nd - 4 Points, 3rd - 3 Points, 4th - 2 Points, 5th - 1 Point) applies to IFBB Pro League athletes' eligibility to compete at the 2012 Olympia 212 Showdown (September 29) in Las Vegas. Prior to the Shreveport Pro Bodybuilding Championships, Jose Raymond last competed at the 2011 Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend, where he took 3rd place in the 202 Showdown won by IFBB Pro Kevin English (defeating the likes of IFBB Pro Flex Lewis, IFBB Pro Jaroslav Horvath, and IFBB Pro Shaun Joseph Tavernier) and where IFBB Pro Phil Heath won the Open Class Mr. Olympia title (defeating the likes of IFBB Pro Jay Cutler, IFBB Pro Dennis Wolf, IFBB Pro Dexter Jackson, and IFBB Pro Ronny Rockel).

Andrew Oye's Verdict: Louisiana brought good news for veteran competitor "Boston Mass" Jose Raymond, who was easily the pre-show favorite to win and nab the fourth victory of his pro career since earning his IFBB Pro card at the 2007 NPC National Bodybuilding Championships. However, in the 2012 IFBB Pro League contest season, Raymond has yet to face IFBB Pro Al Auguste, who has been dominating the new 212 Division with two contest victories so far. A couple of months ago, IFBB Pro Branch Warren won the Arnold Sports Festival's IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships. The 212 Division athletes are still hoping and waiting for the promoters of the Arnold Classic to add their division to the lineup of contests during one of the largest fitness industry events in the world.
