The Headline: ANDREW OYE'S IFBB PRO CONTEST REPORT: IFBB PRO JON DELAROSA WINS CHICAGO PRO BODYBUILDING CHAMPIONSHIPS OPEN DIVISION, EARNS FIRST IFBB PRO LEAGUE CAREER VICTORY

The Item: IFBB Pro League Contest Results, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup

The Scoop: Just Announced: Over the weekend, IFBB Pro Jonathon Delarosa won the Open Division at the 2015 IFBB Chicago Pro Bodybuilding Championships in Illinois. IFBB Pro Michael Lockett locked the 2nd place slot. Rising two rungs from last year, IFBB Pro Akim Williams acquired 3rd place. IFBB Pro Kevin Jordan finished in 4th place. IFBB Pro Renaldo Gairy grabbed 5th place. Some of the remaining field of physiques: IFBB Pro Brad Rowe (6th), slipping two spots from last year IFBB Pro Marshel Herman (8th), jumping three spots from last year IFBB Pro Timmy Gaillard (10th), IFBB Pro Brad Davis (12th), and IFBB Pro Michael Ely (14th).

The "So What?": As reported in "Andrew Oye's Pro Muscle Report," the IFBB Pro Olympia Qualification Series Point System (1st automatic qualification, 2nd - 4 Points, 3rd - 3 Points, 4th - 2 Points, 5th - 1 Point) applies to IFBB Pro League athletes' eligibility to compete at Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend (September 17-20) in Las Vegas, Nevada, to challenge reigning Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Phil Heath. The victory in Illinois marked Jonathon Delarosa's first professional win in the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness. Kevin Jordan made his pro debut (since earning his IFBB Pro card at the 2013 NPC National Bodybuilding Championships). The 2013 and 2014 Chicago Pro contests were won by IFBB Pro Roelly Winklaar (who did not return to defend his consecutive titles; however, his brother IFBB Pro Quincy Winklaar finished in 4th place in this year's 212 Division).

Andrew Oye's Verdict: Jon Delarosa needed the Chicago win. He earned his IFBB Pro card by winning the Heavyweight Class at the 2011 NPC USA Bodybuilding Championships (Super-Heavyweight Class winner IFBB Pro Steve Kuclo won the Overall Mr. USA title). Since then, Delarosa has competed in a dozen contests, inching close (but not quite reaching) the winner slot -- 2nd at the 2012 Toronto Pro (won by IFBB Pro Bill Wilmore), 3rd at the 2013 Toronto Pro (won by IFBB Pro Victor Martinez), 3rd at the Arnold Sports Festival's 2014 IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships in Brasil (won by Kuclo), 3rd at the 2014 New York Pro (won by IFBB Pro Mamdouh Elssbiay, a.k.a. "Big Ramy"), 2nd at the 2014 Orlando Show of Champions (won by IFBB Pro Justin Compton), and 3rd at the 2014 Toronto Pro (won by IFBB Pro Juan Morel). The result in Chicago proved the New Yorker could qualify for the "Super Bowl of bodybuilding" via a win and not just via points on the OQS leaderboard (as he did last year when he made his Olympia debut).
