The Item: IFBB Pro League Contest Results, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup
The Scoop: Just Announced: Over the weekend, IFBB Pro James "Flex" Lewis earned a repeat victory,
winning the 212 Division at the 2014 IFBB Prague Pro Bodybuilding
Championships. IFBB Pro Baitollah Abbaspour garnered 2nd place. IFBB Pro
Jose Raymond took 3rd place, followed by IFBB Pro Guy Cisternino in 4th
place. IFBB Pro Ahmad Ahmad nabbed 5th place, dropping from 3rd place
at this contest last year.
The remaining field: consistent with
his placing at the 2013 Prague contest was IFBB Pro Lee Powell (6th),
IFBB Pro Andre Regestein (7th), IFBB Pro Pierre Chamoun (8th), IFBB Pro
Vicente Santamaria Martinez (9th), and last year's 11th of 15
contestants IFBB Pro Mirsad Terzo (10th).
The "So What?": As reported in "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report," the IFBB Pro Olympia
Qualification Series Point System: (1st automatic qualification, 2nd - 6
Points, 3rd - 5 Points, 4th - 4 Points, 5th - 3 Points) applies to IFBB
Pro League athletes' eligibility to compete at Joe Weider's Olympia
Weekend to face reigning 212 Olympia Showdown Champ IFBB Pro Flex Lewis.
The Prague Pro Championships is a Tier 2 contest, i.e., one of few to
award more points per placing than Tier 3 and Tier 4 contests. This
makes three consecutive wins for the Welsh bodybuilder, who also won the
2013 Prague Pro Championships and the 2012 contest, which marked the
return of IFBB professional events to the Czech Republic following a
14-year absence of pro bodybuilding competitions in the region.
Andrew Oye's Verdict: Should Flex Lewis consider purchasing a second home (or gym) in Prague?
They obviously seem to love him there. Or it could just be that he is,
in fact, the current king of the 212 Division, fresh off a victory at
the previous weekend's inaugural IFBB Korean Grand Prix Pro Bodybuilding
Championships. He also won the division's most prestigious titles --
the 212 Showdown at the 50th Anniversary Olympia and the first-ever 212
contest at the Arnold Sports Festival's IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger
Classic Bodybuilding Championships -- in the same year. In Prague, Baito
Abbaspour had the more impressive upper body from the front, with his
incredible midsection and abdominal "Vacuum Pose," but the champ had him
beat from the back and with his solid wheels (legs).
