The Item: IFBB Pro League Contest Results, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup, WSM Pro Athletes Roundup

The Scoop: Over the weekend, IFBB Pro Jamal Elmadawy won the 212 Division at the 2012 Chicago Pro Bodybuilding Championships in Illinois. Powerlifter and IFBB Pro Derik Farnsworth was awarded 2nd place. IFBB Pro Ahmad Ahmad was ranked in 3rd place. IFBB Pro Antonio Morales Vidal took 4th place, and IFBB Pro Bola Ojex landed in 5th place. The remaining field of physiques: IFBB Pro Hennie Kotze (6th), IFBB Pro Panexce Pierre (7th), IFBB Pro Jimmy Canyon (8th), and IFBB Pro Steve Burke (9th).

The "So What?": As reported in "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report," the IFBB Pro Olympia Qualification Series Point System: (1st automatic qualification, 2nd - 4 Points, 3rd - 3 Points, 4th - 2 Points, 5th - 1 Point) applies to IFBB Pro League athletes' eligibility to compete in the Olympia 212 Showdown at Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend in Las Vegas (September 29). This was Chicago's first pro bodybuilding contest in about 18 years (since the 1994 Chicago Pro Invitational, where IFBB Pro Mike Francois defeated competitors like IFBB Pro Rich Gaspari; powerlifter turned bodybuilder turned strongman and 2001 WSM World's Strongest Man Champion -- IFBB Pro Svend Karlsen; as well as two "BodyStars" from WWE CEO Vince McMahon's WBF World Bodybuilding Federation -- IFBB Pro Jim Quinn and IFBB Pro Troy Zuccolotto). IFBB Pro Porter Cottrell, a firefighter from Kentucky, had won the 1992 and 1993 Chicago Pro Invitational contests (beating athletes like IFBB Pro Ronnie Coleman -- prior to his Mr. Olympia winning streak, IFBB Pro Kevin Levrone, IFBB Pro Darrem Charles, and IFBB Pro Milos Sarcev).

Andrew Oye's Verdict: The was Jamal Elmadawy's first professional bodybuilding contest victory since earning his IFBB Pro card by winning the 2010 Arnold Amateur Bodybuilding Championships Light-Heavyweight Class at the Arnold Sports Festival (host of the IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships) in Columbus, Ohio. Since the Illinois contest hosted a 212 Division, it looks like competing in Chicago was a wise move for Elmadawy, who had opted to compete in the previous weekend's Open Division contest at the Europa Battle of Champions Hartford Pro Bodybuilding Championships in Connecticut, where he finished in 6th place to winner IFBB Pro Juan Morel.
