The Item: IFBB Pro League Contest Results, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup
The Scoop: Just Announced: Over the weekend, IFBB Pro Gaetano Cisternino won 1st place in the 212
Division at the 2014 IFBB Dallas Pro Bodybuilding Championships, Europa
Super Show in Texas. IFBB Pro Mboya Edwards was named the 2nd place
runner-up. IFBB Pro Thomas Benagli took 3rd place. An Open Division
competitor making his 212 Class debut, IFBB Pro Baitollah Abbaspour took
4th place, followed by IFBB Pro Cory Mathews in 5th place. The
remaining field: IFBB Pro Lorenzo Jones (6th), powerlifter IFBB Pro
Derik Farnsworth (7th), IFBB Pro Kevin Ofurum (8th), IFBB Pro Shavis
Higa (9th), IFBB Pro Amit Sapir (10th), IFBB Pro Wendell Floyd (11th),
IFBB Pro Guy Ducasse (12th), IFBB Pro Jan Kubik (13th), and IFBB Pro
Milton Holloway, Jr. (14th).
The "So What?": As reported in "Andrew Oye's Pro Muscle Report," the IFBB Pro Olympia
Qualification Series Point System (1st automatic qualification, 2nd - 4
Points, 3rd - 3 Points, 4th - 2 Points, 5th - 1 Point) applies to IFBB
Pro League athletes' eligibility to compete at Joe Weider's Olympia
Weekend (September 18-21) in Las Vegas and face reigning Olympia 212
Showdown Champion IFBB Pro James 'Flex' Lewis. While last year's Super
Show did not host a pro 212 Division contest, this year's Europa Games
Get Fit & Sports Expo featured: a seminar with 8-time Mr. Olympia
IFBB Pro Ronnie Coleman, martial arts, wrestling, NPC amateur
bodybuilding, powerlifting, grappling, MMA fighting, and CrossFit.
Two-time Arnold Classic Champ IFBB Pro Branch Warren won the Dallas Pro
Open Division.
Andrew Oye's Verdict: I've seen the gradual physique improvements made by IFBB Pro Guy
Cisternino since earning his IFBB Pro card at the 2008 NPC National
Bodybuilding Championships (alongside IFBB Pro Ed Nunn, IFBB Pro Michael
Liberatore and IFBB Pro Peter Putnam), adding mass while maintaining
his lines (especially to his thick legs/quads). Dallas seems to dig the
New Jersey bodybuilder, giving him the second victory of his pro career --
the first being his win at this same contest in 2011 (where IFBB Pro
Toney Freeman won the Open Division). With eight Top-5 contest placings,
Cisternino is taking his place among the upper-tier of the 212 Class
and (along with IFBB Pro Kevin English, IFBB Pro David Henry, IFBB Pro
Eduardo Correa and IFBB Pro Jose Raymond) is poised to challenge IFBB
Pro Flex Lewis, who won the Arnold Sports Festival's first-ever 212
Division contest at the IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic
Bodybuilding Championships in March (where IFBB Pro Dennis Wolf won the
Open Division).
