The "So What?":
As reported in "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report," the inaugural Prague Pro Bodybuilding Championships marked the return of IFBB pro bodybuilding competition to the Czech Republic after a 14-year stretch without International Federation of
Bodybuilding & Fitness contests in the general region that birthed Czechoslovakian IFBB Pro Pavol Jablonicky. Hall of Fame
IFBB Pro Kevin Levrone won the 1997 Czech Republic Grand Prix Championships, defeating IFBB Pro Ronnie Coleman before his Olympia-winning
streak began. (Other competitors at the 1997 Czech Republic Grand Prix: IFBB Pro Chris Cormier, IFBB Pro Milos Sarcev and IFBB Pro Vince Taylor. At the 1996 Czech Republic Grand Prix: IFBB Pro Paul Dillet, IFBB Pro Charles Clairmonte and IFBB Pro Mike Matarazzo.)
The IFBB Pro Olympia Qualification Series Point System (1st automatic qualification, 2nd - 4 Points, 3rd - 3 Points, 4th - 2 Points, 5th - 1 Point) applies to IFBB Pro League athletes' eligibility to compete at next year's Olympia 212 Showdown and challenge reigning 212 Showdown Champion IFBB Pro James Lewis. IFBB Pro Dennis Wolf won the Prague Pro Championships Open Division.
Andrew Oye's Verdict:
Adding this Prague Pro Championships victory to the previous weekend's win at the IFBB Pro British Grand Prix Championships in Manchester, England, as well as last month's taking of the 2012 Olympia 212 Showdown title at Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada, James "Flex" Lewis has emerged as a strong force in the 212 Division. Perhaps the Welsh-born athlete is on his way toward emulating a dominance in the lightweight division that fellow UK bodybuilder and 6-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Dorian Yates achieved in the Open Division during his heyday in the 1990s -- when he was flexing against the likes of IFBB Pro Lee Labrada, IFBB Pro Shawn Ray, IFBB Pro Flex Wheeler, and IFBB Pro Andreas Munzer.
