IFBB Pro League Contest Results, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup
: Just Announced: Over the weekend, IFBB Pro James "Flex" Lewis won the 202 Division at the 2009 IFBB Atlantic City Pro Bodybuilding Championships in New Jersey, using clearer muscle
separation to edge out the 2nd-place contestant -- super-dense IFBB Pro Jose
Raymond, whose quads were in their own zip code. Belgium's IFBB Pro Clarence DeVis
landed in 3rd place, displaying nice leg detail in the side poses. IFBB Pro Jeffrey Long was placed 4th in the lineup, followed by IFBB Pro Pedro Barron in 5th place.
The "So What?"
: This was the last opportunity for IFBB Pro League athletes to qualify for the "Super Bowl of
Bodybuilding." The Top 3 finishers in the 202 Division at the Atlantic
City Pro obtained qualification to compete at Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend in
Las Vegas, and to face reigning Olympia 202 Showdown Champion IFBB Pro
David Henry. Flex Lewis earned his pro card at the 2007 IFBB UK British Bodybuilding Championships, winning the Light-Heavyweight Class and Overall title. He placed 3rd at the 2008 Olympia 202 Showdown.
Andrew Oye's Verdict
: Welsh IFBB Pro Flex Lewis has said he was drawn to bodybuilding and inspired by the incredible leg development of IFBB Pro Tom Platz (a.k.a., the original "Quad-zilla" or "Quadrasaurus"). Growing up in Wales he was also inspired by IFBB Pro Jay Cutler, IFBB Pro Dorian Yates and 7-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger. Maybe the Arnold Sports Festival will add the 202 Division to the Arnold Classic in the future so the young athlete can step on a stage provided by of one his idols.
