The Item: IFBB Pro League Contest Results, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup

The Scoop: Just Announced: Over the weekend, IFBB Pro Ed Nunn knocked down his competition, winning 1st place at the 2011 IFBB Tijuana International Pro Bodybuilding Championships in Mexico. IFBB Pro Marcus Haley was the 2nd place finisher. Polish powerlifter and IFBB Pro Robert Piotrkowicz placed in the 3rd position. IFBB Pro Moe Elmoussawi took 4th place, and IFBB Pro Alfonso Del Rio finished 5th among the competitors.

The remaining field: Italian IFBB Pro Daniele Seccarecci (6th), Lithuanian IFBB Pro Robert Burneika (7th), IFBB Pro Will Harris (8th), IFBB Pro Abbas Khatami (9th), Mexican IFBB Pro Manuel Lomeli (10th), IFBB Pro Omar Deckard (11th), IFBB Pro Mark Antonek (12th), IFBB Pro Silvio Samuel (13th), IFBB Pro Adorthus Cherry (14th), IFBB Pro Parenthesis Devers (14th), IFBB Pro Grant Andre Pieterse (14th), IFBB Pro Vladimir Sizov (14th), followed by IFBB Pro Grigori Atoyan, IFBB Pro Oscar Tua Dexter, IFBB Pro Fauzi Hanst, IFBB Pro Hector Huitzil Madrid, IFBB Pro Martin Kjellstrom, IFBB Pro Cesar Mendible, and IFBB Pro Heinz Senior.

The "So What?": As reported in "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report," the Top 3 IFBB Pro League athletes at the inaugural Tijuana Pro Championships earn Olympia qualifications to battle 4-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Jay Cutler at Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend in Las Vegas. A late addition to the International Federation of Bodybuilding & Fitness 2011 pro contest schedule, this was the first-ever Tijuana Pro contest and the last chance for Open Division bodybuilders to quality for the 2011 Mr. Olympia Championships this upcoming weekend (September 16). Finishing the season strong, three of Tijuana's Top 5 had just placed Top 5 at the Phoenix Pro two weeks ago -- Ed Nunn (3rd), Marcus Haley (4th) and Alfonso Del Rio (5th).

Andrew Oye's Verdict: As I stated previously, Ed Nunn had already qualified for the Olympia by placing 2nd at the Dallas Europa SuperShow (won by IFBB Pro Toney Freeman), and 3rd at the Phoenix Pro Championships (won by IFBB Pro Troy Alves). However, there is something to be said for doing so with a 1st place win, and the Tijuana Pro was Ed Nunn's first victory in a professional bodybuilding contest. With one of the tightest waists in bodybuilding, Nunn is quickly gaining fans among those that favor the X-frame physique (broad shoulders, V-tapered midsection, and full quads) on the pro stage. Next on his plate: trying to improve upon his 16th place finish at last year's Olympia in a tough match against this year's contenders like IFBB Pro Phil Heath, IFBB Pro Dexter Jackson, IFBB Pro Dennis Wolf, IFBB Pro Ronny Rockel, IFBB Pro Branch Warren (winner of the Arnold Sports Festival's 2011 IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships), and others.
