The Item: IFBB Pro League Contest Results, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup

The Scoop: Just Announced: Over the weekend, IFBB Pro David Henry returned from a military-duty hiatus and earned a 1st place victory in the 212 Division at the 2012 Dallas Pro Bodybuilding Championships. At the Europa Super Show in Texas, IFBB Pro Tricky Jackson, who took 3rd in this contest last year, rose to 2nd place. IFBB Pro William Bonac bowed in 3rd place. Powerlifter and IFBB Pro Derik Farnsworth went from 5th place last year to 4th place this year, swapping spots with IFBB Pro Marvin Ward, who was 4th last year and fell to 5th place this year.

The "So What?": As reported in "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report," the IFBB Pro Olympia Qualification Series Point System: (1st automatic qualification, 2nd - 4 Points, 3rd - 3 Points, 4th - 2 Points, 5th - 1 Point) applies to IFBB Pro League athletes' eligibility to compete at Joe Weider's Olympia 212 Showdown (September 29) in Las Vegas to face reigning Olympia Showdown champion IFBB Pro Kevin English. The Europa Super Show Dallas Pro saw the absence of last year's winner IFBB Pro Guy Cisternino, as well as the pro debuts of William Bonac and 9th place finisher IFBB Pro Quincy Winklaar -- younger brother of IFBB Pro Roelly Winklaar, who won the Arnold Sports Festival's 2009 Arnold Classic Amateur Bodybuilding Championships, placed 7th at the 2010 IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships, and finished 8th at the 2011 Arnold Classic (won by IFBB Pro Branch Warren).

Andrew Oye's Verdict: Ironically, many question the ability of 212 (formerly 202, i.e., lightweight or smaller) Division competitors to go toe-to-toe with the big guys in the Open Division. But what does it mean when former Open Class athletes don't crack the Top 10 in a 212 Division contest, like IFBB Pro Oliver Adzievski, who placed 12th and IFBB Pro Wendell Floyd, who placed 13th, in Dallas? [Placings for some of the remaining field of physiques: IFBB Pro Rixio Tapia (8th), IFBB Pro Ahmad Ahmad (10th), IFBB Pro Robert Belisle (11th), and IFBB Pro Roger Ferrer (14th).]
