The Item: IFBB Pro League Contest Results, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup

The Scoop: Just Announced: Over the weekend, IFBB Pro Cedric McMillan rose to a 1st place victory at the 2011 IFBB Pro Europa Show of Champions in Orlando. Florida-based IFBB Pro Marcus Haley posed his way into 2nd place. The Russian giant IFBB Pro Evgeny Mishin literally filled the 3rd place spot with his massive structure. IFBB Pro Michael Liberatore took 4th place. In a respectable pro debut, IFBB Pro Lee Banks settled into 5th place at the Orlando Pro Bodybuilding Championships.

The remaining field: IFBB Pro Khalid Almohsinawi (6th), IFBB Pro Robert Piotrkowicz (7th), IFBB Pro Clarence DeVis (8th), IFBB Pro Grigori Atoyan (9th), IFBB Pro Wendell Floyd (10th), IFBB Pro Manuel Romero (11th), IFBB Pro Jonathan Rowe (12th), and IFBB Pro Oleg Emelianov (13th).

The "So What?": As reported in "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report," the Top 3 IFBB Pro League athletes at the Orlando Pro Bodybuilding Championships earn Olympia qualifications to challenge 4-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Jay Cutler at Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend in Las Vegas (September 16). This year, there was no 202 Division contest (which was won by IFBB Pro Eduardo Correa last year). This event marks Open-Division competitor Cedric McMillan's first professional victory in his young career since the South Carolina-based US Army Leadership Instructor earned his IFBB Pro card by winning the Super-Heavyweight Class and Overall title at the 2009 NPC National Bodybuilding Championships. He then placed 4th at the Europa Supershow 2010 IFBB Dallas Pro Bodybuilding Championships (won by IFBB Pro Essa Obaid).

Andrew Oye's Verdict: At a height of 6'2" and about 250+ lbs., if Cedric McMillan gradually refines any added mass (since that seems to be the name of the game) while maintaining his whittled waistline...(and the judges at the top professional bodybuilding contests reconsider their criteria)...he has the potential to one day do what a similar-bodied but aging vet IFBB Pro Toney Freeman has yet (but is still trying) to do -- put a Sandow trophy in the hand of a tall, modern-day athlete with an "X-frame" physique. Or at a minimum, perhaps an invitation to the Arnold Sports Festival's IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships could net McMillan a major title -- one that has also been won by Mr. Olympias IFBB Pro Ronnie Coleman, IFBB Pro Dexter Jackson and Jay Cutler.
