The Item: IFBB Pro League Contest Results, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup

The Scoop: Just Announced: Over the weekend, IFBB Pro Al Auguste won 1st place in the 202 Division at the 2011 IFBB Tampa Pro Bodybuilding Championships in Florida. Auguste was ripped and ready to ascend to the top of the class. A competitor whose overall shape was just as good as the champ's, IFBB Pro Rixio Tapia claimed the 2nd place slot. IFBB Pro Pierre Chamoun placed 3rd among the group.

The remaining field: IFBB Pro John Frederick Arendsz (4th), former football running back for the NFL Tampa Bay Buccaneers IFBB Pro Nathan Wonsley (5th), IFBB Pro Luc Molines (6th), IFBB Pro Vince Wawryk (7th), IFBB Pro Gianluca Catapano (8th), and IFBB Pro James Darling (9th).

The "So What?": As reported in "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report," the Top 3 IFBB Pro League athletes in the 202 Division at the Tampa Pro Championships earn Olympia qualifications to challenge Olympia 202 Showdown Champion IFBB Pro Kevin English at Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend in Las Vegas (September 16). The Tampa Pro was Auguste's professional bodybuilding debut. Auguste earned his pro card by winning the Light-Heavyweight Class at the 2010 NPC USA Bodybuilding Championships (where IFBB Pro Jason Huh won the Overall title). Tapia's runner-up placing is his best showing to date on a pro stage, having placed out of the Top 10 in contests during the 2010 IFBB Pro League contest season -- the Europa SuperShow Dallas Pro Championships (won by IFBB Pro Seth Feroce) and Sacramento Pro Championships (won by IFBB Pro Tricky Jackson).

Andrew Oye's Verdict: Al Auguste qualifying for an Olympia event during his first time on a pro stage is commendable, though it should be noted that none of the prominent 202 Division competitors (Kevin English, IFBB Pro David Henry, IFBB Pro Jose Raymond, IFBB Pro Eduardo Correa and IFBB Pro Flex Lewis) were on the roster in Tampa to potentially block his path. It was also a bonus for Auguste that occasional 202 Division competitor IFBB Pro Mark Dugdale decided to compete in the Open Division in Tampa (where he placed 4th behind winner IFBB Pro Marius Dohne). Dugdale began his career in the Open Class and has competed against heavier bodybuilders at a past Olympia (in 2007, won by IFBB Pro Jay Cutler) and past editions of the Arnold Sports Festival's IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships (in 2005, won by IFBB Pro Dexter Jackson, and in 2007, won by IFBB Pro Victor Martinez).
