The Item: IFBB Pro League Contest Results, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup

The Scoop: Just Announced: Over the weekend, IFBB Pro Stan McQuay marched his way into the 1st place winner's slot at the IFBB Detroit Pro Bodybuilding Championships held in Michigan. McQuay managed to forge ahead of IFBB Pro Daryl Gee, who finished in 2nd place. IFBB Pro Tricky Jackson landed in 3rd place -- a familiar spot for Jackson, who was competing in his 3rd show for the 2010 IFBB Pro League contest season where he finished 3rd in the lineup.

Some picks from the remaining field: IFBB Pro Mark Dugdale (4th), IFBB Pro Parenthesis Devers (5th), IFBB Pro Lawrence Hunt (6th), IFBB Pro Cvetko Stojmenovski (7th), IFBB Pro Pedro Barron (8th), IFBB Pro James Llewellin (9th), IFBB Pro Daron Lytle (10th), IFBB Pro Mboya Edwards (12th), IFBB Pro Rod Ketchens (13th), IFBB Pro Luis Felipe Marinho (14th), IFBB Pro Amit Sapir (15th), IFBB Pro Jason Marcovici (16th), followed by IFBB Pro Jimmy Canyon, IFBB Pro Sean Jenkins and IFBB Pro Jimmy Momany.
The "So What?": As reported in "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report," the Top-3 placing IFBB Pro League athletes earn qualifications to compete at Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend in September to challenge reigning Olympia 202 Showdown Champion IFBB Pro Kevin English in Las Vegas. The Detroit Pro closes the books on Olympia-qualifying contests for the 2010 season. Interestingly, the Detroit Pro Bodybuilding Championships contest has not been staged by a promoter since the 1987 competition, won by IFBB Pro Mike Ashley (who would later go on to win the 1990 IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships), followed by IFBB Pro Shane DiMora (2nd), IFBB Pro Ron Love (3rd), IFBB Pro Mike Quinn -- who later competed in WWE CEO Vince McMahon's WBF World Bodybuilding Federation (4th), contest-prep trainer IFBB Pro Charles Glass (5th), IFBB Hall of Famer "Quadfather" IFBB Pro Tom Platz (6th), IFBB Pro Ali Malla (7th), 1982 NABBA Mr. Universe IFBB Pro John Brown (8th) and IFBB Pro Wayne Robbins (9th).

Andrew Oye's Verdict: Many had predicted that Mark Dugdale would easily earn an Olympia qualification in Detroit. Dugdale earned his IFBB Pro card by winning the Light-Heavyweight Class and Overall title at the 2004 NPC USA Bodybuilding Championships, and he competed at the Arnold Sports Festival's 2005 Arnold Classic (won by IFBB Pro Dexter Jackson). He was the 2nd place runner-up at the 2010 Pittsburgh Pro Championships (won by IFBB Pro Eduardo Correa). Dugdale has received some contest-prep coaching from 6-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Dorian Yates and documented his training journey for DVD projects. Unfortunately, his 4th place finish in Detroit will not give him the chance to improve on his 4th place finish at the 2009 Olympia 202 Showdown.
