The Item: IFBB Pro League Contest Competitors List, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup

The Scoop: Just Announced: Promoters of the inaugural Sheru Classic just released the roster of IFBB Pro League athletes that will compete at the Asian Grand Prix Pro Bodybuilding Championships in Mumbai, India (September 25).

Open Class Competitors:
IFBB Pro Jay Cutler
IFBB Pro Alfonso Del Rio
IFBB Pro Marius Dohne
IFBB Pro Toney Freeman
IFBB Pro K. Greene
IFBB Pro Phil Heath
IFBB Pro Michael Kefalianos
IFBB Pro Victor Martinez
IFBB Pro Mohammed Touri
IFBB Pro Dennis Wolf

The "So What?": According to the event's promotional material, this event is the  first-ever IFBB-sanctioned professional bodybuilding and figure contest to be held in Asia (although I have yet to confirm this). The event occurs just one week after Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend, where, as reported in "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report," newly crowned Mr. Olympia Phil Heath defeated 4-time Mr. Olympia Jay Cutler and field of others in Las Vegas. Sometimes, post-Olympia events struggle to attract top-tier names, but organizers had locked in several Top 10 Olympia finishers several months ago. That roster was to include IFBB Pro Branch Warren (winner of the Arnold Sports Festival's 2011 IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships), but "Quadrasaurus" is recovering from a pre-Olympia quadriceps injury.

Andrew Oye's Verdict: Many wonder if a contest directly following the Olympia -- which supposedly just ranked the world's best physiques in professional bodybuilding -- can be judged with a "clean slate," where any competitor can win the show or shuffle the placings. Given this, would it feel less than right if Mr. Olympia Phil Heath didn't also win in Mumbai? Nevertheless, Heath just presented a solid, champion-caliber physique in Nevada, so, unless a sudden unforeseen circumstance occurs, we can expect Heath to collect another victory.
