IFBB Pro League Contest Competitors List, Contest Preparation, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup
Recently Announced: A group of 202 Division IFBB Pro League athletes are prepping to do battle at the Europa Orlando Pro Show of Champions this weekend (April 17). Two of the front-runners include IFBB Pro
Jose Raymond and
IFBB Pro Eduardo Correa. The rest of the 202 lineup includes IFBB Pro John Arendsz, IFBB Pro Pierre Chamoun, IFBB Pro Eduardo Correa, IFBB Pro Rod Ketchens, IFBB Pro James Llewellin, IFBB Pro Roc Shabazz, IFBB Pro Michael Valentino and IFBB Pro Vincent Wawryk.
The "So What?":
Raymond shares thoughts on his contest prep with "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report." The Boston resident, who has been competing for 18 years, had a long off-season since he last stepped on stage at the Olympia 202 Showdown in September 2009. Since then, his focus has been on refinement. "I feel good. I didn't get too heavy. The heaviest I've been is 220. At 15 pounds lighter, I don't have far to go. I'm 205 now, and I expect to weigh in at about 199. My legs were already decent, but my upper body was where I was getting beaten by the other guys. So I put a lot of work into my shoulders, back and chest, training them twice a week. I've definitely seen some improvement."
The 202 Class Winner at the 2009 Pittsburgh Pro Bodybuilding Championships,
Eduardo Correa is in transit from Brazil. Correa promises another win in Orlando to remain one of the top threats for the rest of the contest season. Correa's contest-prep coach says, "[Correa] is in great shape. I know he's nervous for the show, which is crazy. There's no reason to be nervous, because he looks fantastic. Nothing can hurt the condition he is in for the show. Eduardo Correa is just off the charts." His coach went on to reiterate that he felt the super-ripped Correa should have won the 2009 Olympia 202 Showdown, where he placed 3rd behind winner IFBB Pro Kevin English. (IFBB Pro Jay Cutler won the 2009 Mr. Olympia title in a battle against IFBB Pro Dexter Jackson, IFBB Pro Branch Warren and IFBB Pro Phil Heath.)
Andrew Oye's Verdict:
While Open Division athletes like IFBB Pro Hidetada Yamagishi and IFBB Pro Tarek Elsetouhi (who both just competed at the Arnold Sports Festival's IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships), IFBB
Pro Grigori Atoyan, IFBB Pro Michael Kefalianos, IFBB Pro Marcus Haley, IFBB Pro Omar Deckard, IFBB Pro Eugene Mishin and powerlifter IFBB Pro Stan Efferding also gear-up for the Orlando Pro Bodybuilding Championships, fans are watching to see which of the lighter-weight pros will gain early Olympia qualifications to face the reigning Olympia 202 champ Kevin English later this year at Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend. Correa is one to watch.
