The Item: IFBB Pro League Contest Competitors List, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup

The Scoop: Just Announced: New York Pro promoters just announced the list of IFBB Pro League athletes that will compete at the 2012 IFBB New York Pro Bodybuilding Championships at the Tribeca Performing Arts Theater (May 19).

212 Class Competitors:
IFBB Pro Sami Alhaddad
IFBB Pro Raul Carrasco-Jimenez
IFBB Pro Guy Cisternino
IFBB Pro Mboya Edwards
IFBB Pro Kevin English
IFBB Pro Milton Holloway, Jr.
IFBB Pro Panexce Pierre
IFBB Pro Jose Raymond
IFBB Pro Marco Rivera
IFBB Pro Luis Santa
IFBB Pro Luis Santiago
IFBB Pro Naor Ziv

The "So What?": As reported in "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report," winner of the 2011 New York Pro 202 Class Jose Raymond returns to defend his title (sort of), as the Big Apple contest hosts what is now called the 212 Class for the first time. This year, Milton Holloway drops from the Open Division to the 212 Division. On a side note, 212 Division competitor IFBB Pro Eduardo Correa took on Open Division competitors at the Arnold Sports Festival's 2012 IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships (won by IFBB Pro Branch Warren) and landed in 10th place.

Andrew Oye's Verdict: With the recent wave of division-swapping among weight-fluctuating competitors, if any 212/202 Class athlete were expected to bump up to the Open Class, it might have been 3-time Olympia 202 Showdown Champion Kevin English (who has competed against Open Division competitors in the past). But why leave the turf where you are the top dog?

New York Pro pre-contest front-runners are Kevin English and Jose Raymond. New Yorker Marco Rivera and New Jersey's Gaetano Cisternino could push them. All competitors are chasing IFBB Pro Olympia Qualification Series points on the quest for Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend, were English might attempt to claim his fourth consecutive victory in the lightweight-division showdown.
