The Item: IFBB Pro League Contest Competitors List, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup

The Scoop: Just Announced: Promoters of the Chicago Pro just released the list of IFBB Pro League athletes that will compete at the 2012 IFBB Chicago Pro Bodybuilding Championships in Illinois (July 7).

Open Class Competitors:

IFBB Pro Baitollah Abbaspour
IFBB Pro Grigori Atoyan
IFBB Pro Omar Deckard
IFBB Pro Adorthus Cherry
IFBB Pro Erik Fankhouser
IFBB Pro Valentin Jabes
IFBB Pro Manuel Lomeli
IFBB Pro Alexandre Nataf
IFBB Pro An Nguyen
IFBB Pro Essa Obaid
IFBB Pro Fred Smalls

The "So What?": Apparently, this is Chicago's first pro bodybuilding contest since the 1994 IFBB Chicago Pro Invitational, which was won by IFBB Pro Mike Francois (IFBB Hall of Fame member and the Arnold Sports Festival's 1995 IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships winner). As previously reported in "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report," promoters of a planned Chicago FIBO show (also called the Chicago Fitness & Sport Expo), subsequently announced that the event had been canceled, which removed the adjunct bodybuilding competition in Rosemont, Illinois, on September 30, 2011, from the IFBB Pro League contest schedule.

Andrew Oye's Verdict: The list for the Chicago Pro is similar to last weekend's Hartford Pro Championships in Connecticut with a few additions like Erik Fankhouser (a.k.a. "Calfasaurus" -- the calf monster equivalent of thigh monsters "Quadfather" IFBB Pro Tom Platz, "Quadrasaurus" IFBB Pro Branch Warren, and "Quadzilla" IFBB Pro Paul DeMayo). Surprisingly, Chicago's IFBB Pro Mike Liberatore is not on the list. Possible front-runners: Omar Deckard, Grigori Atoyan, Essa Obaid and Fred Smalls. And again, all IFBB Pro League competitive bodybuilders are eagerly contending for the all-important IFBB Pro Olympia Qualification Series points to advance to Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend, where reigning Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Phil Heath goes for his second title and Sandow trophy.
