The Item: IFBB Pro League Contest Competitors List, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup

The Scoop: Just Announced: The team behind the Europa Battle of Champions just posted the list of IFBB Pro League athletes that will compete at the 2011 IFBB Hartford Pro Bodybuilding Championships in Connecticut (July 30).

Open Class Competitors:
IFBB Pro Troy Alves
IFBB Pro Grigori Atoyan
IFBB Pro Moe Bannout
IFBB Pro Adorthus Cherry
IFBB Pro Toney Freeman
IFBB Pro Will Harris
IFBB Pro Johnnie Jackson
IFBB Pro Tricky Jackson
IFBB Pro Marc Lavoie
IFBB Pro Jeff Long
IFBB Pro Heinz Senior
IFBB Pro Fred Smalls
IFBB Pro Phil Von Kaenel
IFBB Pro Ben White

The "So What?": Several days before the entry cutoff date, the competitors list for the 2011 Hartford Pro contest was light, but last-minute entries grew the list to 14 contestants. IFBB Pro Will Harris, who last competed in 2008, has proclaimed that this contest will result in his first-ever, pro-contest win. The closest Harris has come to a victory was his 2nd place finish at the 2007 Europa Super Show. Ordinarily a 202 Class competitor, Tricky Jackson is taking a chance and jumping into the Open Class with the big guys in Connecticut.

Andrew Oye's Verdict: A veteran contender at Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend, as well as the Arnold Sports Festival's IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships, Toney Freeman should be a dominant frontrunner, but watchers of the sport say the conditioning factor could sway the vet's placing. Other names predicted for the top end of the lineup: Troy Alves, who placed well at this contest last year, and powerlifters Johnnie Jackson and Ben White -- who were rivals in the "World's Strongest Bodybuilder" Powerlifting Challenge.
