The Item: Contest Results, New IFBB Pro League Cards, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup

The Scoop: Just Announced: Over the weekend, Sami Al Haddad won the 90 kg Class and Overall title at Joe Weider's Amateur Olympia Bodybuilding Championships, which was held in conjunction with the IFBB British Grand Prix and Fitness Expo Weekend. His victory qualified Al Haddad for an IFBB Pro card, which he reportedly declined at this time. Winner of the 100+ kg Class and new IFBB Pro Tomas Bures accepted his IFBB Pro card and professional athlete status.

The "So What?": The event in London was the first ever fully IFBB-sanctioned Amateur Olympia event. Recently, Bures placed 2nd in the Heavyweight Class at the Arnold Sports Festival's 2011 Arnold Schwarzenegger Amateur Bodybuilding Championships. Al Haddad finished in 3rd place in the Light-Heavyweight Class at the Arnold Amateur in Columbus, OH. As reported in "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report," new IFBB Pro Mathias Botthof won the Super-Heavyweight Class and Arnold Amateur Overall title. IFBB Pro Branch Warren won the IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships, as well as the latest British Grand Prix Pro contest's Open Division. IFBB Pro Flex Lewis won the 202 Division of the Brit Grand Prix, where classic-physique IFBB Pro Francis Benfatto guest-posed.

Andrew Oye's Verdict: Having an amateur contest associated with the Olympia name will take some getting used to. Does it dilute the "prestige," creating potential confusion with the actual title of Mr. Olympia? Perhaps it's too soon to tell for sure. Either way, Tomas Bures now joins the ranks of pros in the International Federation of Bodybuilding & Fitness who aim to compete at Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend and earn the Sandow trophy that has been collected by official Mr. Olympia titleholders like IFBB Pro Jay Cutler, IFBB Pro Dexter Jackson, IFBB Pro Ronnie Coleman, IFBB Pro Dorian Yates and IFBB Pro Lee Haney.
