The Headline: ANDREW OYE'S IFBB PRO CARD REPORT + IFBB PRO ATHLETES ROUNDUP: NPC MASTERS NATIONAL BODYBUILDING CHAMPIONSHIPS ISSUES NEW IFBB PRO LEAGUE CARDS TO WINNING ATHLETES, PLUS IFBB PRO ANDY HAMAN, IFBB PRO STAN EFFERDING, IFBB PRO JUSTIN COMPTON IN PENNSYLVANIA

The Item: Contest Results, New IFBB Pro League Cards, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup, NFL Pro Athletes Roundup

The Scoop: Just Announced: Over the weekend, the 2015 NPC Masters National Bodybuilding Championships in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, issued a new crop of athletes with IFBB Pro League cards. Dave Gratta won the Heavyweight Class and Overall 35+ title. Also qualifying for professional status were class/age-group winners John Silvey (Masters Super-Heavyweight 35+) Michael Pariso (Masters Light-Heavyweight 35+), Brett Campanella (Masters Middleweight 35+), Zdenek Voprada (Masters Super-Heavyweight 40+), Brian Hoydic (Masters Light-Heavyweight 40+), Michael Lynn (Masters Heavyweight 40+, Overall 40+), and Mark Bacon (Masters Lightweight 50+, Overall 50+).

The "So What?": New IFBB Pro Dave Gratta's attempt for a pro card last year resulted in a 4th place finish behind the Heavyweight Class and Overall winner (IFBB Pro Erik Ramirez) at the IFBB North American Championships. New IFBB Pro Zdenek Voprada -- a Czech Republic-born powerlifter and bodybuilder who admires retired IFBB Pro Pavol Jablonicky -- finished 9th in the Heavyweight 35+ Class at last year's Masters Nationals. As reported in "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report," coached by retired IFBB Pro Achim Albrecht, IFBB Pro Jon Andersen (a pro wrestler, strongman, and the 2003 North America's Strongest Man champion) won the 2014 NPC Masters Overall title. (Another recent Masters champion who is a multi-sport athlete is the 2013 Masters 40+ Overall winner -- IFBB Pro Mark Byers, a former NFL Detroit Lions football player.)

Andrew Oye's Verdict: Over the weekend, IFBB Pro Justin Compton, IFBB Pro Brian Yersky, IFBB Pro Kenneth Jackson, IFBB Pro Michael Ely (2013 Masters Super-Heavyweight 40+ winner), and IFBB Pro Stan Efferding (2009 NPC Masters Overall Champion and 2010 World's Strongest Bodybuilder Powerlifting Challenge winner) were spotted at the NPC Teen, Collegiate and Masters Bodybuilding Championships. The 2007 NPC Masters Overall Champion, IFBB Pro Andy Haman attended this year's contest to support his son who competed in the Teen Division. Recently, Haman (a former collegiate wrestler), who last competed at 2010 Phoenix Pro Championships, told me his competitive bodybuilding days are over while he focuses on guest appearances.

Nevertheless, the presence of IFBB Pro League athletes like Haman, Efferding, and Ely at the event might motivate the latest group of Masters-level athletes as they transition from competing as amateurs in the National Physique Committee to pros in the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness, and as these mature rookies take on new goals  – such as, possibly receiving invitations to compete at the Arnold Sports Festival's IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships and tackling IFBB Pro Olympia Qualification Series contests to participate in Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend "Super Bowl of bodybuilding."
