ANDREW OYE'S IFBB PRO CARD REPORT: CANADIAN BODYBUILDING FEDERATION NEWLY LAUNCHED CBBF ELITE BODYBUILDING CHAMPIONSHIPS AWARDS NEW IFBB PRO LEAGUE CARDS TO WINNING ATHLETES
The Item: Contest Results, New IFBB Pro League Cards, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup

The Scoop: Just Announced: Over the weekend in Canada, Patrick Bernard won the Overall title at the 2011 Canadian Bodybuilding Federation CBBF Elite Bodybuilding Championships in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. In turn, Bernard, of Quebec City, earned an IFBB Pro card and the qualification to now compete on a professional level with the International Federation of Bodybuilding & Fitness.

The "So What?": The 5'6" iron lifter, who gets up to 235 lbs. in the off-season, started training at 14 and began competing at 23. Almost a decade later, Patrick Bernard entered the newly launched Canadian Elite contest, which is reserved only for competitors who are previous Canadian Bodybuilding Championship winners. Bernard is the first competitor under 202 lbs. to win the Overall title. Bernard has been grasping for an Overall victory for quite some time, racking up three 1st place class wins at the Canadian Nationals, two of which were gained by a single-point lead. Bernard's contest history:

2011 CBBF Elite Bodybuilding Championships - 1st 202 Class and Overall
2010 Canadian National Bodybuilding Championships - 1st Middleweight
2009 Canadian National Bodybuilding Championships - 2nd Middleweight
2008 Canadian National Bodybuilding Championships - 1st Middleweight
2007 Canadian National Bodybuilding Championships - 2nd Middleweight
2005 Canadian National Bodybuilding Championships - 2nd Light-Middleweight
2003 Canadian National Bodybuilding Championships - 1st Lightweight
2003 Canadian National Selection for Slovakian Grand Prix - 1st Lightweight

Andrew Oye's Verdict: New IFBB Pro Patrick Bernard now joins other Canadian Bodybuilding Federation alums like IFBB Pro Fouad Abiad, IFBB Pro Santana Anderson, IFBB Pro Frank McGrath, IFBB Pro Ben Pakulski, and IFBB Pro Mike Van Wyck trying to leave lasting, Canadian-bred impressions on the professional landscape. Abiad and Pakulski competed at the Arnold Sports Festival's 2011 IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships (won by IFBB Pro Branch Warren), and McGrath has qualified to challenge 4-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Jay Cutler at Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend in September. Meanwhile, Bernard is attempting to make a memorable entrance in the 202 Division, incorporating entertaining, robotic-style posing into his stage performance that is reminiscent of IFBB Pro Tricky Jackson. This has landed Bernard a couple of "Best Poser" Awards, so perhaps he'll give the veteran a bit of challenge in that department.
