The Headline: ANDREW OYE'S IFBB PRO CARD + PRO CONTEST REPORT: NORTH AMERICAN BODYBUILDING CHAMPIONSHIPS AWARDS NEW IFBB PRO LEAGUE CARDS TO WINNING ATHLETES + PITTSBURGH PRO MASTERS CHAMPIONSHIPS GIVES IFBB PRO TIMMY GAILLARD HIS FIRST IFBB PRO LEAGUE CAREER VICTORY

The Item: IFBB Pro League Contest Results, New IFBB Pro League Cards, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup

The Scoop: Just Announced: Over the weekend, new IFBB Pro Mitchell Staats won the Overall title at the 2015 IFBB North American Bodybuilding Championships in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Staats won the Light-Heavyweight Class, earning an IFBB Pro League card. Also turning pro: Super-Heavyweight Class Winner Russ Allen, Heavyweight Class Winner Gerald Williams, 35+ Masters Runner-up/40+ Masters Heavyweight Class Winner DeShawn Glass, Overall 35+ Masters Winner Sean Harris, Overall 40+ Masters Winner Corey Henderson, Overall 50+ Winner Joe Ino Tong, and Overall 60+ Winner Clinton Struble.

The "So What?": Graduating from the National Physique Committee amateur circuit to the pro ranks of the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness, Mitch Staats brought a complete package: decent mass, proper conditioning, back detail, and an impressive V-taper in the double-biceps pose. He didn't even place at the 2008 NPC National Championships (where IFBB Pro Ed Nunn earned his pro card), but then he finished 7th in the Light-Heavyweight Class at last year's NPC Nationals (where IFBB Pro Alexis Rivera-Rolon, the Super-Heavyweight winner turned pro). IFBB Pro Erik Ramirez won the Heavyweight Class and Overall title at the 2014 IFBB North American Championships, and, as reported in "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report," movie actor and World Wrestling Entertainment WWE Superstar professional wrestler Dwayne Johnson (a.k.a. "The Rock") was in attendance.

Last year, the inaugural IFBB Pittsburgh Pro Masters Championships (won by IFBB Pro Brad Davis) was staged with the IFBB North American Championships. This year, IFBB Pro Timmy Gaillard won the 40+ Class and Overall title with a balanced physique. (Star of "No Pain, No Gain," IFBB Pro Gus Malliarodakis won the 50+ Class). The contest promoter from Mississippi had earned his IFBB Pro card on the same Pennsylvania stage, winning the Heavyweight Class and Overall title at the 2011 NPC Masters National Championships. This marked Gaillard's eighth pro contest and first pro victory.

A week ago, the Atlantic City Pro Championships (won by IFBB Pro Branch Warren) was the last contest in the IFBB Pro Olympia Qualification Series before the 2015 Mr. Olympia Championships at Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend (September 17-20), where challengers face 4-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Phil Heath. A week after the "Super Bowl of bodybuilding," some competitors will hit the European edition of the Arnold Sports Festival's IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships (September 25-26)..

Andrew Oye's Verdict: A father of two children and a fitness trainer originally from Florida but now residing in Bridgeton, Missouri, new IFBB Pro Mitch Staats' path to professional bodybuilding may have been predestined. He comes from good stock, noting "I've been competing in bodybuilding since I was 15 years old. My dad was a bodybuilder in the 80s. My mom worked out. My brother powerlifts. My sister did a few figure shows back in the day. We are a fitness family."

At last, Timmy Gaillard may have found his niche -- on the pro Masters stage -- considering that in nearly all of his previous (non-Masters) Open-Division competitions, he ranked at or below 10th place, with the exception of his 9th place finish at the 2015 Tampa Pro Championships (won by IFBB Pro Max Charles). The remainder of his resume: 10th at the 2015 Chicago Pro (won by IFBB Pro Jon Delarosa); 14th at 2014 Tampa Pro (won by Arnold Classic Champion IFBB Pro Victor Martinez); 11th at 2014 Europa Dallas Pro (won by 2-time Arnold Classic Champion, "Quadrasaurus" Branch Warren); 13th at Chicago Pro (won by IFBB Pro Roelly Winklaar); and no placings at the Tampa Pro in 2013 (won by IFBB Pro Evan Centopani) or 2012 (won by Arnold Classic Europe Champion IFBB Pro Shawn Rhoden). In other words, he needed the win in Pittsburgh.
