The Item: Career Updates, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup

The Scoop: Recently Reported: IFBB Pro League athletes had career updates or made recent guest appearances at various sports, bodybuilding, physique and fitness events. The latest "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report" Pro Athletes Roundup includes an athlete crowned Mr. O. and an athlete known as the "X-Man."

The "So What?": In media contracts news, IFBB Pro Dexter Jackson, IFBB Pro Toney Freeman and IFBB Pro K. Greene have exited their respective exclusive media contracts. The word is that 2008 Mr. Olympia Dexter Jackson and Toney "X-Man" Freeman are no longer tied to the company whose roster includes IFBB Pro Phil Heath, IFBB Pro Flex Lewis, and IFBB Pro Dennis Wolf, while Greene is no longer a member of the team that includes 3-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Jay Cutler, IFBB Pro Branch Warren and IFBB Pro Victor Martinez.

Andrew Oye's Verdict: The question becomes: where will these top athletes go next? Dexter Jackson (who, ironically, graces the current cover of the magazine he's leaving) has a stellar resume -- including victories at the 2008 Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend and at the 2005, 2006 and 2008 Arnold Classic contests. Toney Freeman is a consistent Olympia-contender. In the past, both have been signed with the company that recently signed Jay Cutler when Cutler's contact ended with the company that Jackson and Freeman are now departing.

Meanwhile, reports suggest the roster changes at the former company of Jackson and Freeman might be preparation for the signing of Greene, who is currently riding a wave of career success. Despite a disappointing 6th place finish at the 2007 IFBB New York Pro Bodybuilding Championships, Greene was signed by his now former company. An upward trajectory followed: 1st place finishes at the 2007 IFBB Colorado Pro, 2008 IFBB New York Pro, 2009 IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships, 2009 Australian Pro Grand Prix, the Arnold Sports Festival's 2010 Arnold Classic and the 2010 Aussie Grand Prix.

With the recent, back-and-forth subtraction and addition of vets and rookies, magazine rosters are flipping faster than readers can flip the pages. However, it seems the current business structure doesn't allow for many other options.
