The Item: Career Updates, Special Appearances, IFBB Pro Legends Update, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup
The Scoop: Recently Reported: IFBB Pro League athletes had career updates or made
recent guest appearances at various sports, bodybuilding, physique and
fitness events. The latest "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report" Pro Athletes
Roundup includes of top names within the International Federation of
Bodybuilding & Fitness making their presence felt internationally,
from Russia to Sweden to the USA to Australia to the Philippines.
The "So What?": Over the weekend, reigning 4-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Phil Heath was
the featured guest-poser and also helped present awards to winning
athletes at the Power Pro Show in Moscow, Russia, where Abdelaziz
Jellali from Morocco won the Moscow Amateur Olympia World Showdown
title, which qualifies him for IFBB Pro status and automatic
qualification to compete with Heath at the 2015 Joe Weider's Olympia
Weekend. Spotted at the expo in Russia: IFBB Pro Zack Khan, IFBB Pro
Nathalia Melo, and IFBB Pro Zsuzsanna Toldi.
IFBB Pro Guy
Cisternino guest-posed and participated in a seminar at IFBB Pro Shawn
Rhoden's 2nd Annual Shawn Rhoden Classic in Manila, Philippines, where
IFBB Pro India Paulino was also in attendance. IFBB Pro Adela Garcia
(8-time Ms. Fitness Olympia and 5-time Arnold Classic Ms. Fitness
International) made an appearance in Gothenburg, Sweden, at the
Fitnessfestivalen Norge (The Fitness Festival), which was established in
2004 and is Scandinavia's largest fitness, training and health expo.
In
Santa Barbara, California, "Incredible Hulk" and current MUSCLE INK
Magazine cover athlete, IFBB Pro Lou Ferrigno hosted the inaugural
Ferrigno Legacy Pro Bodybuilding Championships (won by IFBB Pro Ronny
Rockel), which was the last contest in 2014 awarding IFBB Pro Olympia
Qualification Series points for the 2015 Olympia Weekend and featured a
Legends Q&A with 8-time Ms. Olympia IFBB Pro Lenda Murray, 4-time
winner of the Arnold Sports Festival's IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger
Classic Bodybuilding Championships IFBB Pro Flex Wheeler, IFBB Hall of
Famer and "Pumping Iron" co-star IFBB Pro Ed Corney, and IFBB Pro Shawn
Ray. Also spotted in Cali: 6-time Ms. Olympia IFBB Pro Cory Everson and
1983 Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Samir Bannout.
Andrew Oye's Verdict: Speaking of Lou Ferrigno, his good friend IFBB Pro Tom Platz (a.k.a. "The
Golden Eagle" and "Quadfather") hosted his Hypertrophy Training
Workshop and Seminar in Melbourne, Australia, at the gym of Tony
Doherty, promoter of the upcoming inaugural Arnold Classic Australia. An
AAU Powerlifting Champion, IFBB Mr. Universe Bodybuilding Champion, former Talent Director for WWE CEO Vince McMahon's short-lived WBF World Bodybuilding Federation, and a
7-time contender at the IFBB Mr. Olympia Championships, Platz passed on
nearly four decades worth of strength-training knowledge at his Tom
Platz Muscle Camp -- a three-day experience of training sessions, practical
demos and in-depth lectures.
Aussies were treated to the "Mr.
Intensity" effect with which Americans and Europeans are already
familiar. During the 1980s, Platz toured the United Kingdom and his
popular seminars and autograph signings drew a loyal fan base. The
Oklahoma native's intense training style even inspired the likes of UK's
biggest bodybuilding export -- 6-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Dorian
Yates, who once wrote, "When I started training in 1984, Tom Platz was
the man. Prior to Platz, legs had never been a big deal in bodybuilding.
Once 'The Golden Eagle' came on the scene with those incredible legs of
his, all that changed. Tom was known for his brutal squat workouts."
