Recently Reported: IFBB Pro League athletes had career updates or made recent guest appearances at various sports, bodybuilding, physique and fitness events. The latest "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report" Pro Athletes Roundup includes the current Mr. Olympia titleholder and some Canadian IFBB Pro cardholders.
The "So What?": Over the weekend, fresh off hosting the NPC Phil Heath Classic in Texas, 3-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Phil Heath hosted a training-and-nutrition seminar and guest-posed at the NPC Natural Ohio Bodybuilding Championships in Westlake, Ohio -- the current home state of the recently held Arnold Sports Festival's IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships. Speaking of the ASF, the 2014 Arnold Classic Champion IFBB Pro Dennis Wolf was the featured guest-poser at the NPC Mid-Illinois Bodybuilding Championships in Ottawa (where IFBB Pro Branch Warren was last year's guest-poser). On the west coast, IFBB Pro Dallas McCarver guest-posed at the NPC/IFBB California Governor's Cup Bodybuilding Championships in Sacramento.
A week ago, Canadian IFBB Pro Santana Anderson emceed and guest-posed at the first annual PEIFPA Provincial Championships in Charlottetown, PEI. The Prince Edward Island Fitness and Physique Association is the governing association sanctioned under the Canadian Bodybuilding Federation (CBBF) -- which stages the Canadian National Bodybuilding Championships, where Santana Anderson, IFBB Pro Mike Van Wyck, IFBB Pro Ben Pakulski, IFBB Pro Vince Wawryk and IFBB Pro Fouad Abiad earned IFBB Pro cards in 2010, 2009, 2008, 2007 and 2006, respectively.
Andrew Oye's Verdict: With the Europa Show of Champions Orlando Pro Bodybuilding Championships (won last year by newly retired IFBB Pro Troy Alves) and the Arnold Classic Brasil (won in 2013 by IFBB Pro Brandon Curry) coming in April, I'm watching the IFBB Pro Olympia Qualification Series. An athlete expected to place higher at the recent Arnold Classic based on his 2nd place runner-up finish in 2013 (won by IFBB Pro Dexter Jackson), IFBB Pro Ben Pakulski mustered a 7th place finish in Ohio a month ago. Nevertheless, the big-wheeled Canadian just landed a new sports-nutrition sponsorship, ending his contract with the company whose roster includes IFBB Pro Vince Wawryk and Physique-Division IFBB Pro Mark Anthony Wingson, and signing with a company whose team includes IFBB Pro Cedric McMillan, IFBB Pro Fouad Abiad and IFBB Pro Eddie Abbew.
