Career Updates, Special Appearances, Legends Update, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup The Scoop:
Recently Reported: IFBB Pro League athletes had career updates or made recent guest appearances at various sports, bodybuilding, physique and fitness events. The latest "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report" Pro Athletes Roundup includes a flexing champion with many commitments, a flexing promoter with many titles, and a flexing character with many "faces." The "So What?":
Over the weekend, reigning 4-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Phil Heath was the headlining guest poser at the NPC Titans Grand Prix Bodybuilding Championships in Culver City, California. This week (October 23), Heath will host a Live Training Seminar discussing motivation, exercise and nutrition at Powerhouse Gym (bodybuilding's "East Coast Mecca") in Syosset, New York, with proceeds benefiting a memorial cancer center. IFBB Pro Dexter Jackson (2011 Masters Pro World Championships Winner, 2012 Masters Olympia Champion, 2008 Mr. Olympia, and 4-time Arnold Classic Champion) hosted the NPC Dexter Jackson Memphis Classic Bodybuilding Championships in Tennessee, where the intermission entertainment included a fitness routine performed by (3-time Fitness Olympia runner-up and 2011 Arnold Classic Europe Fitness Champion) IFBB Pro Tanji Johnson and guest-posing routines from IFBB Pro Jon Delarosa, IFBB Pro Juan Morel, and Jackson himself.
IFBB Pro Evan Centopani participated in a meet-and-greet appearance at the IFBB Swiss Cup held in Switzerland. IFBB Pro Branch Warren (2-time winner of the Arnold Sports Festival's IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships) and wife IFBB Trish Warren made an appearance at a gym's grand opening in Tyler, Texas. At the NPC Badger State Bodybuilding Championships in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, guest posers included IFBB Pro Frank McGrath, IFBB Pro Kevin Jordan, and IFBB Pro Nick Trigili, who, apparently, is a character on and off the stage. Trigili's routine was inspired by the recently departed World Wrestling Entertainment WWE Superstar "The Ultimate Warrior." His routine at this contest last year captured another WWE Superstar's pro wrestling fandom movement. In the past, the 2014 NPC Mr. USA and rookie IFBB Pro has also performed routines as the movie boxer "Rocky Balboa" and superhero "Captain America." Andrew Oye's Verdict:
With non-stop guest-posing and autograph-signing appearances, Phil Heath has maintained a high profile since claiming his fourth Sandow trophy at the 50th Anniversary Mr. Olympia Championships at Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend last month, as is expected of the current title-holding primary ambassador of the sport of bodybuilding. On the other hand, Frank McGrath has been rather elusive throughout his career since earning pro status by winning the 2003 CBBF Canadian Nationals. Taking into account his injury from an auto accident in 2010, he has only competed in six pro contests, none during the 2014 IFBB Pro Olympia Qualification Series and his last was a 4th place finish at the 2013 Toronto Pro Championships. The man they call "Wrath" sports some of the gnarliest forearms in the business, and his fans are still waiting for a pro victory.
