Career Updates, Legends Update, Special Appearances, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup

The Scoop: Recently Reported: IFBB Pro League athletes made recent guest appearances at various sports, bodybuilding, physique and fitness events. The latest "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report" Pro Athletes Roundup includes a slew of Mr. Olympia winners with a total of 23 Olympia Sandow trophies between the four champions of the "Super Bowl of bodybuilding."

The "So What?": Thirty years ago, 8-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Lee Haney (current cover athlete of the MUSCLE INK Magazine Legends Series, which has included 2-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Larry Scott, 3-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Sergio Oliva, and 7-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger) won the first-ever NPC National Bodybuilding Championships in 1982. Over the weekend, Haney was on hand for the crowning of a new champ at the 2012 NPC Nationals in Atlanta, Georgia, along with reigning 2-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Phil Heath, 4-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Jay Cutler (who turned pro at the 1996 NPC Nationals), and 2008 Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Dexter Jackson.

Also in attendance at the National Physique Committee's IFBB Pro-qualifying contest: Atlanta resident IFBB Pro Toney Freeman (who earned his IFBB Pro card at the 2002 NPC Nationals), as well as retired athletes IFBB Pro Shawn Ray (IFBB Hall of Famer who turned pro at the 1987 NPC Nationals), IFBB Pro Dennis James, IFBB Pro Bob Cicherillo, and IFBB Pro Chris Cormier. Meanwhile, 8-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Ronnie Coleman, who recently signed IFBB Pro Shawn Rhoden (winner of the Arnold Sports Festival's 2012 European Arnold Classic Bodybuilding Championships in Madrid, Spain) as a sponsored athlete to his sports-nutrition company, made recent stops in California, Oregon and Washington on his U.S. tour of special appearances.

Andrew Oye's Verdict:
It's inspiring for amateur-level athletes to see torch-passing moments or merely friendly exchanges between pro-level champions of the International Federation of Bodybuilding & Fitness, especially at an event where 62 new IFBB Pro cards were awarded -- following the institution of the new IFBB Pro Olympia Qualification Series that steers Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend, where future physique and fitness champions are born.
