The Item: Career Updates, Special Appearances, Pro Promoters, Legends Update, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup

The Scoop: Recently Reported: IFBB Pro League athletes had career updates or made recent guest appearances at various sports, bodybuilding, physique and fitness events from east coast to west coast. The latest Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup includes three Mr. Olympia titleholders promoting bodybuilding's future.

The "So What?": Over the weekend, 2008 Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Dexter Jackson hosted his 5th Annual NPC Dexter Jackson Classic Bodybuilding Championships in Jacksonville, Florida. Meanwhile, 6-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Dorian Yates hosted his 1st Annual NPC Dorian Yates Classic Bodybuilding Championships in Austin, Texas (state of residence for Yates' successor, MUSCLE INK Magazine cover athlete and legendary 8-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Ronnie Coleman). Guest-posers at the Dexter Jackson Classic included IFBB Pro Michael Liberatore and IFBB Pro Shawn Rhoden, who, as reported in "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report," is a week away from competing at the IFBB Tampa Pro Bodybuilding Championships. Competitors prepped by retired IFBB Pro Don Long competed at Jackson's contest, and IFBB Pro Lee Banks was spotted in the crowd.

Mr. "Quadrasaurus," Texas local, and 2-time winner of the Arnold Sports Festival's IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships, IFBB Pro Branch Warren showed up at Dorian Yates' contest in Austin. On the west coast, 4-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Jay Cutler (who also promotes NPC contests) made an appearance at a fitness event in San Diego, where powerlifter and IFBB Pro Derik Farnsworth was guest-posing. The previous weekend, IFBB Pro Jason Huh guest-posed at the NPC Sunset Classic Championships in Florida.

Andrew Oye's Verdict:
It's encouraging to see National Physique Committee contest promoters take the form of the highest titleholders in the International Federation of Bodybuilding & Fitness -- essentially the sport's elite professionals providing opportunities for amateur competitors who aspire to walk in their shoes, with hopes of one day entering the IFBB Pro League, participating in the IFBB Pro Olympia Qualification Series and possibly having a shot at the coveted Sandow trophy and the title of Mr. Olympia at Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend.
