The Scoop: Recently Reported: The year is drawing to a close and some IFBB Pro League athletes had career updates or made final guest appearances at various sports, bodybuilding, physique and fitness events. The latest "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report," IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup includes a pair of international pros.
The "So What?": Over the weekend, German IFBB Pro Ronny Rockel (who placed 9th at Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada, where new Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Phil Heath defeated 4-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Jay Cutler) and Greek IFBB Pro Michael
Kefalianos were co-headlining guests at a
bodybuilding contest in Izmir, Turkey. Michael Kefalianos, whose best 2011 showing was a 3rd place finish at the IFBB Australian Grand Prix (won by IFBB Pro Dennis Wolf), and Ronny Rockel, whose best 2011 result was winning his second consecutive IFBB Mr. Europe Grand Prix Bodybuilding Championship title, participated in a trip that included training demos, photo ops, and guest-posing at a Turkish bodybuilding contest presented by the Body Development Sports Foundation at the Kaya Izmir Convention Center.
Andrew Oye's Verdict: Michael Kefalianos (who earned his IFBB Pro card after placing 3rd in the Heavyweight Class at the 2009 Arnold Amateur Bodybuilding Championships, won by IFBB Pro Roelly Winklaar) just announced his excitement about receiving his very first invitation to compete at the Arnold Sports Festival's 2012 IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships in Columbus, Ohio. Ironically, Ronny Rockel, who recently placed 3rd at the inaugural Arnold Classic Europe in Madrid, Spain (won by IFBB Pro Victor Martinez; Kefalianos finished 8th) in October, and 6th at the 2011 Arnold Classic in Columbus (won by IFBB Pro Branch Warren) in March, is not among the list of 14 Arnold Classic invitees headed to the Arnold Sports Festival in Ohio in 2012 -- despite a total of five previous consecutive appearances on the prestigious pro-bodybuilding stage there starting in 2007.
