The Headline: ANDREW OYE'S IFBB PRO ATHLETES ROUNDUP: IFBB PRO MARK DUGDALE NEW DVD GETS IFBB PRO LEAGUE FOUNDER JOE WEIDER, PHIL HEATH, BRANCH WARREN + MORE PRO BODYBUILDERS' VIEWS ON LEAVING A 'LEGACY'
Career Updates, Legends Update, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup The Scoop:
Just Announced: This month, IFBB Pro Mark Dugdale releases his latest DVD titled "Legacy: What Will Your Story Be?" The film's promo material states: "After fourteen years of marriage, seeing his daughters racing towards young womanhood, and with seven years competing as an IFBB professional bodybuilder already in the rearview mirror, Mark Dugdale considers his legacy -- in bodybuilding and in life." The "So What?":
In the documentary, Mark Dugdale travels across the U.S. to get varying perspectives on the notion of a "legacy" from competitive bodybuilders, fitness industry professionals and others, cranking out tough training sessions along the way. The project includes guest appearances by the legendary Joe Weider (founder of the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness, as well as the Mr. Olympia Championships), IFBB Pro Phil Heath (NPC Mr. USA, 2008 Ironman Pro Invitational Winner and Olympia contender), IFBB Pro Branch Warren (latest winner of the Arnold Sports Festival's IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships), IFBB Pro Victor Martinez (Olympia contender and 2007 Arnold Classic Champion), IFBB Pro Evan Centopani (winner of the 2008 New York Pro Bodybuilding Championships), and more.
An athlete who enjoys alpine skiing and whitewater rafting, Dugdale earned his IFBB Pro card by winning the 2004 NPC USA Bodybuilding Championships. Though he has yet to nab a pro victory, the Seattle, Washington, resident has accrued seven Top 5 finishes in the 16 contests he has entered to date. As for his own legacy, Dugdale tells "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report" Pro Athletes Roundup that he might retire from the competitive bodybuilding stage after five years, "But I hope to remain connected to the sport, maybe as a [contest] judge or helping other [athletes] in their preparation for competitions, something of that nature." Andrew Oye's Verdict:
Mark Dugdale's 2010 release "Mark is Numero 202" covered his journey to the 202 Olympia Showdown at the 2009 Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend and featured legendary 6-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Dorian Yates. Ironically, last month, Dugdale competed in the Open Division at the 2011 Tampa Pro Bodybuilding Championships (won by IFBB Pro Marius Dohne), where he finished in 4th place -- one spot away from an Olympia qualification to challenge reigning Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Jay Cutler. Some people feel IFBB Pro League athletes like Dugdale will benefit when the 202 Division becomes the 212 Division in the year 2012, allowing him to retain some of the mass he sacrifices when dieting down to 202 lbs.
