Career Updates, Special Appearances, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup
Recently Announced: IFBB Pro League athletes had career updates or made recent guest
appearances at various sports, bodybuilding, physique and fitness
events. The latest "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report" Pro Athletes Roundup
includes pros throwing iron and steel, including a collegiate wrestler and powerlifter and a blue-collar powerhouse.
The "So What?":
Bodybuilding fans have the opportunity to pick up gym tips from IFBB Pro
League athletes at the Europa Battle of Champions Show in
Hartford, CT, this weekend (July 24). "Watch the Pros Train" will take
place in a gym-display setup at the expo, allowing attendees to meet professionals of the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness and get muscle-building tips from watching pro-level
bodybuilders, figure and fitness athletes do what they do best.
Scheduled to appear at the Connecticut Convention Center are IFBB Pro Branch Warren (2009 Mr. Olympia 2nd place runner-up, known for his gritty, blue-collar training style), IFBB Pro Victor Martinez (winner of the Arnold Sports Festival's 2007 IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships), IFBB Pro K. Greene (2-time Arnold Classic Champion) and IFBB Pro Andy Haman (a super-strong powerlifter), among others. IFBB Pro Hidetada Yamagishi had been slated to join in the live training demo; however, the recent quad injury that caused him to withdraw from the IFBB Tampa Bay Pro Bodybuilding Championships' Finals last
weekend (won by "World's Strongest Bodybuilder" Powerlifting Challenge competitor IFBB Pro Ben White) is changing his guest-appearance and competition plans. Will he meet his goal to revisit the stage at Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend and face Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Jay Cutler in September?
Andrew Oye's Verdict:
An event like a live training demo is a cool way to give fans an up-close look at the kind of work professional physique athletes do before stepping on the contest stage. And some of their backstories are just as interesting. Featured in MUSCLE INK Magazine, Andy Haman is a USA National Freestyle Wrestling Champion from Iowa City, Iowa, who was coached at the University of Iowa by Olympic gold-medal winning wrestler Dan Gable. As reported in "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report," Haman earned his IFBB Pro card by winning the Super-Heavyweight Class and Overall title at the 2007 NPC Masters National Bodybuilding Championships. Haman received his Bachelor of Science in Education with a Health and Art minor, taught physical education and coached wrestling and football in the public school system for 14 years before pursuing competitive bodybuilding.
