The Item: Career Updates, Special Appearances, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup

The Scoop: Recently Reported: IFBB Pro League athletes had career updates or made recent guest appearances at various sports, bodybuilding, physique and fitness events. The latest Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup includes two Texas-based heavyweights and two Tampa-bound contenders.

The "So What?": Over the weekend, powerlifter and IFBB Pro Johnnie Jackson guest-posed at the NPC Branch Warren Classic Bodybuilding Championships, hosted by 2-time winner of the Arnold Sports Festival's IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships and his friend IFBB Pro Branch Warren. IFBB Pro Hidetada Yamagishi and IFBB Pro Shawn Rhoden were featured guests at the NPC Southern States Bodybuilding Championships in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. IFBB Pro Kevin English took the stage as a guest-poser at the NPC Colorado State Championships in Denver.

As reported in "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report," both Jamaican sensation Shawn Rhoden and Japanese sensation Hide Yamagishi are prepping for the upcoming IFBB Tampa Pro Bodybuilding Championships (August 11). Meanwhile, at the contest in Woodlands, Branch Warren and Johnnie Jackson (winner of the 2009 World's Strongest Bodybuilder Powerlifting Challenge) discussed their plans for the upcoming Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend in September. The tough Texans will face reigning Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Phil Heath in Las Vegas, where IFBB Pro Kevin English will compete in the 212 Division's Olympia 212 Showdown.

Andrew Oye's Verdict: Gradually becoming known among the new breed of IFBB Pro League athletes maintaining classic physique lines, Shawn Rhoden looked exceedingly close to competition shape nearly a month away from his next contest on the IFBB Pro Olympia Qualification Series circuit. Despite his 11th place finish at the 2011 Olympia and 8th place finish at the 2012 Arnold Classic, I see a bright future for Rhoden, who will certainly give Hidetada Yamagishi a challenge in Florida, where the 2-time JBBF Japan Nationals Middleweight Champion will attempt to exceed his 2nd place finish at the 2011 Tampa Pro Championships (won by IFBB Pro Marius Dohne).
